Driver Side Power Window & Door Want Open

I got a '96 J30 and my driver side window is messed up. The motor is still running i hear it and it will kinda roll down but will not roll up. I hear the motor trying to roll it up but its not working. I took the door panel off to see if i could figure out whats wrong with it. Nope still as lost as i was before i started but now i have a door with no panel and i shut my window controls panel in the door and it broke some of the plastic off. Could it be the gears in the motor stripped out? When im driving down the road the window just falls down so thats what making me think its the gears stripped out.

Also im having a problem opening the driver side doorom the outside. I can pull the handle and knee the side of the door and it will open. Is there a adjuster or something like that i can adjust to tighten the door handle up?

I feel your pain. Im on my third window regulator now and it too is broken. The most common problem with the window regulator in the J30 is the actual gear itself. Its located in the motor assembly in the big disk where the two cables run in and out of. Pop off the top and you'll see where the rubber center is completely separated from the outer ring of the gear. You can either try to fix it yourself or do what I did and get one from the local junkyard. Then again everyone I have gotten from the junk yard breaks less than a year after I put it in.

I bit the bullet and bought a new one 4 years ago and all is well.
you have to remember wear and tear items in the junkyard are well..
