Driver Side Diffuser Tip

I have a 2009 Altima. When I first got the car back in 09, for the first couple of years (till about 2011) Every once in awhile I would lose one of the Diffuser Tips. I was told that it's not uncommon for them to be stolen from the car. (I've had to replace both sides before)

Since 2011 It's only been the driver side I have to replace. I have heard that after I replace one I should bring the car to a body shop and ask for them to be welded on. The problem is when I pull in my driveway the car will scrape slightly. If I do this, should I worry about doing more damage to the exhaust system as a whole?

Or should I explore other options. I hate the way my car looks without that 2nd tip, but then again I hate losing it a few days after I replace it.
