I can't find the problem! Also the engine makes this whining sound when the engine is in gear. Sounds like the power steering pump, so I changed it and it still does it. What can that be? Also there is a big rust hole on the passenger side floor panel, I'm just going to weld a piece of sheet metal on it and call it a day, but is that normal? The car came from Connecticut so that explains the rust hole. Thanks in advance.

I recent purchased a 04 Maxima for my mother, as her daily commute, after buying the car from the auction, I noticed a few things, the driver seat doesn't work, (details) has no memory steering wheel, the whole thing is manual. But on the door is has the memory buttons, took the door panel off and there is nothing connecting to it, nor is there a wire to connect it to. What I think is the seats/interior doesn't belong to the car. I ran a wire from the power (yellow wire under the seat) to the seat motor, and grounded the other side, I get the seat to move back and forward, so I know the motors aren't fryed. I changed the harness, the switch itself, even the memory computer under the seat and nothing works. I can't find the problem! Also the engine makes this whining sound when the engine is in gear. The whining is probably from your timing chain tensioner shoes being worn through to the steel.
Take all the fan belts off. Still make the noise?
Did the car have power seat and tilt originally?
You will need to sit down with the wiring diagram and think a bit.

Is the "timing chain tensioner shoes" a pain to replace? My brother is a certified mechanic so he does most of the difficult work that are out of my jurisdiction of mechanic work. When morning time come I'll try taking off the fan belts to see if I still hear the noise. I'm sure it came with power seats cause the passenger seat works just fine, only the driver seat is a pain. But no tilt in the steering wheel. I've search online for a wire diagram but not one found. Yeah actions are really a hit or a miss.
