On my 2000 the male end won't click into place when inserted into the female buckle. Been reading and I don't see any way to open the existing female buckle and attempt a repair. Also read about the lifetime warranty on the seat belt system for Nissan's made up through 2002. Called Infiniti of Scottsdale and they confirmed the warranty, however, they also confirmed that the part is nowhere to be found in the US at the moment. They say it is still available, but they might not have any for 6 to 8 weeks when a shipment from Japan makes it way to the US.

I have been looking on ebay and calling local junkyards for a temporary fix. Does anybody know which other years of Q45 (or even other Nissan models) have a driver seat female belt buckle that is compatible with the 2000 model year? I am not finding anything to my liking when searching only for 2000 driver seat female belt buckles and would like to broaden my search if I can. A local junkyard has 1997 with beige interior (which is what I need), but I want to confirm compatibility before I run all the way over to it.

Looks like there were about a gazillion different parts choices. It seems unacceptable that Infiniti doesn't have any color of this part in the country. They should be willing to eat labor twice if they have to install the incorrect color the first time. I'd ask if they can give you a loaner car, since it's a warranty item, and your car can't legally be driven. :D

Check out www.car-part.com for a good junkyard search engine, if you haven't been using it already.

Your Y2K Q45 AE is a second generation model. 2nd gen model years are 1997–2001, so I would say any of those should work.

You could also always measure your male buckle, and compare it to the one in the junkyard/other vehicles. If its the same, the female side should work with it.
Note - the electrical connection on the female side MAY be different, but you could always cut it and put your connector on.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I whacked the existing buckle pretty good on its side after letting some Triflow and WD40 soak on it overnight. It has been working again for the last two days. I am going to see if I can limp along with the existing buckle while I wait for final word on the new buckles that are supposed to be coming from Japan.

IOS called today. They have located a seat belt buckle for me and I have an appointment on Tuesday to get the new buckle installed. Even though the original buckle has been working for the past few days, I am going to get the new one installed anyway because the existing one has been temperamental. Might as well be safe and get the new buckle in, especially since it is covered by warranty and the buckles are getting harder to find.
