Hey guys, My girlfriend's 2003 Accord driver side headlight blows out about every 3 months. The last time I replaced them, I took out these el cheapo "blue" bulbs that her ex boyfriend put in. I put in the sylvania silverstars, the most expensive kind dang it, thinking that would fix the problem.

Does anyone have any leads on what could be the problem. replacing the lights every 3 months isn't too bad, if it was for my 240sx :), but her driver's side light can't be accessed unless I undo the whole battery and completely remove it. Furthermore, she has classes late at night and can't really see with just one head light and is very scared to drive.

I'll be replacing the light soon, it would just be nice if I could fix this problem once and for all.

I could just get her HID's to bypass all that wiring :), but we're both in "financial" situations right now.

Thanks a lot guys, and please be nice to Honda's - those things are fast :).

Have you tried OEM bulbs? I know some cars have trouble with a lot of these after-market bulbs. They burn out quick. If that's not that problem, it would have to be something circuit related, but on such a new Honda I'm a little surprised. Does the connector looked damaged at all? Maybe when this ex-boyfriend put those other bulbs in he damaged the connector or wires.

i would also recommend checking over all the wires and reinstalling oem bulbs.

While I was changing them today, I noticed that the OEM high beams were Sylvania. I was suprised the Sylvanias I bought for her last time already burnt out.

The connectors look ok. I just put in some aftermarket ones for now since I needed them quick and cheap. If they burn out again, I'll try some OEM ones or if I have a stable job by xmas, I was thinking about just upgrading her car to hid's.

Thanks for the suggestions guys

check to make sure the light housing is secure and not bouncing when going over rough road surfaces. It could be jarring the bulb when it hot breaking the filiment.

Thanks for all the suggestion guys. I've found the problem!

Ok, I was reading on another forum where people who had headlights which automatically turned on experienced short headlight life. The reason was that the current fluctuates when you turn the ignition, so the current has a change of popping the bulb, which in this case was the driver's side.

When I took the bulb out, it was blown in a very small section.

My girlfriend was driving me home today because I dropped my car off at my uncle's house to let it cool down so we can install the headers, hi flow cat, and exhaust tomorrow morning, hoo hoo.

I noticed she turned the lights on while cranking the ignition (one of those "time saving" moves). Then it hit me! Current Fluctuation!!!

Well, in case anyone else has this problem, that's it :).

Have a good July 4th weekend guys.

Check the voltage at battery when running at idle and cruise speed lights on lights off? Alternator regulator?
