Hello,

We recently purchased a 2009 Nissan Versa 1.6L Base model. It's a no-frills car, but has been great so far.

The model has only a single, manual door-lock on the driver's side. This is annoying, but at purchase we were told it was not too expensive to add power door locks.

We've started researching door locks, and have been told that it is in fact impossible to put in power locks, or even a manual door lock on the passenger side.

Is this information accurate? Has anyone installed a passenger door lock or keyless entry on a base model 2009 Versa?

Thanks in advance for any information!

I have read somewhere if you have the door actuators in place then you can do it.

Search the forum, as I may have read it here somewhere.

I'm sure you could fit OEM parts on there for the elctronic actuators. It may be cheaper to just visit a local car stereo store and look at a keyless entry system from them.

As for the manual lock on the passenger side, I don't think it exists for a Versa. It seems the new cars usually have just for the driver's door. But, as a caveat, driver's door is relative. Our passenger side door is a driver's door for a Tiida. I believe an outside handle from a Tiida will work for you. I don't know if the locking cables and all that will directly work with the handle though. I'd hit Bob at Versa Speed about it. He can probably get you a handle if you wanted to try it out. Worse case, you put the handle on Ebay or sell it on the forums and take it as a learning experience.

Yeah, all the Versa's seem to only have a lock on the driver's side handle. That's how mine is too!

Thanks, everyone, for these helpful replies. I check into the keyless entry system and post a follow-up on what I find out.

Maybe that's why you have a lock on each handle, because you have manual locks.
