Hey guys,

I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue, and Was cleaning out my car and noticed that both the carpets on the passenger and driver side were soaked.

For a bit of knowledge, I have rubber floor mats that are NOT wet, but the carpet mat and the floor boards are both soaked.

I can rule out the coolant because I have been watching the coolest level every couple days and it hasn't moved at all.

Any idea what this could be?

Do you have a sunroof? If you do, it means your drains have become clogged and water is now entering your passenger cabin. You need to go have them cleaned out and get a shop vac to clear out the water.

I know from experience after my 18-month old car got hit by this very issue...

No I do not have a sun roof and I should have mentioned in my earlier post that if I sit in my driveway and let the A/c run, there will be the normal puddle underneath the drainage hose.

Do you have rubber floor mats in just the front, or both front and rear. Do you usually have passengers in the rear? Wondering if it's possible that your rear windows were accidentally left opened during a downpour and went unnoticed (if the rear seats don't get used).

I do have rubber mats in the back as well and it isn't wet back there. It's only wet up front. Also I just completely dried my car out yesterday and I just checked on them and they were wet.

I have a 2005 Altima that has the front passenger floorboard rust through. If it gets worse I suspect it will begin having water splash up through the hole to the underside of the carpet. Is the carpet wet always or only when/after it rains?

I know you said the AC leaves a puddle in the driveway but I would not rule out the fact that the condensation is also leaking into the cabin. Based on all the other information you provided it would be worth taking some compressed air to the AC drain line as that can't hurt to check.

Since it’s not winter yet, there are two well three reasons your floor board can get wet. If you have no sunroof.

1. AC drain as mentioned, compressed air or weed eater line should solve that problem. I have access to both and prefer the line.

2. Leaking windshield. They are sometimes hard to diagnose, a helper with a garden hose is a plus. Make sure to roll up your windows, have that helper hose down the windshield while you contort yourself and crawl around checking under the dash for fresh drips.

3. The one you don’t want to hear. Heater core. Turn the heat on see if you smell that sweet antifreeze smell, or you get a greasey film on the inside of your windshield. Or both.

Number 1 and 2 are fairly easy to solve unplug the drain or have the glass company replace the windshield and charge it to your insurance, full glass with $50 deductible.

Number 3 is the dash pulling, multiple hour mess that no one likes to do.
