Driver Info Center screen dead

I've always called this the Driver Information Center (DIC), though it appears Nissan simply calls it the Dot Matrix Liquid Crystal Display. It's the small screen under the speedometer.
One day, it just went dead, though it looks like it's still getting power. When you look at it at night, it seems to glow a little. So I don't think it's a fuse.

Any suggestions before I go through the hassles of bringing it in for service?

Just a follow to let you all know that Nissan had to replace the whole dash cluster - under warranty
