Hey guys, Im hoping to get a little help fixing my HID on my drivers side. All of the sudden I noticed it wasnt on and needed to make a long drive home, fuses all seemed fine. So my uncle quickly made a jumper wire and took power from the passenger HID harness and ran a single wire to the driver side harness and it worked perfect.

To me that says the bulb and ballast are perfectly fine and its a wiring/relay/fuse issue

Is there anyway I can diagnose this further? I have unhooked the temp wire as I wasnt sure how safe it was to run extra current around like that.

Appreciate the help, I can post pics or anything that would help :bigthumb: thank you

i think you might just need a new relay since the ballast and bulb is working just fine

The left and right headlamp relays are likely the same. Right is E97, Left is E98, swap them. They are in Relay Box 1,
on the left (US driver's side) of the engine compartment just above the top of the strut. The top of the box shows
which relay is which.

I did just swap the "headlamp" relays in the relay box and it didnt alter anything. The passenger HID worked and the driver HID failed in both configuration  darn

I wish it was that easy sometimes

Does low beam vs high beam make a difference?

Next step is to check fuses 60 (15A) and 32 (20A). And just in case I've gone dyslexic in my old age, check fuses 59 (15A) and 31 (20A). These should all be in the fuse and fuseable link box under the hood, though I don't see 31 and 32 there in the FSM.

If it's not that, we're pretty much left with the daytime light control unit or a bad wire.

This is a factory HID setup, right?

My $0.02 worth. I'm thinking it's probably the DRL module.
(I'm assuming it's a Canadian truck here.)
I had a similar problem a few years back, and that was ultimately the problem.
A new module from the dealer was close to $300.00.
I pulled one from a junker for $25.00. Problem solved.

FYI, I've since learned that it may have just been a problem with cold solder joints in the DRL.
The DRL unit is nothing more than a bunch of small relays mounted on a board. It's a simple system.
Try taking the cover off and going over the relay connections with a soldering iron.

I am canadian, but the truck is actually US model, so i dont have a DRL

I will go verify all those fuses 100% with a meter Chuck, but I gave them all a visual yesterday and they looked good. i will verify. I havet tried to make the high beams works so I will see how they are working aswell

Fuse 60/59/31/32 are all good, all other fuses underhood got checked after just because I was in there with the meter

Im pretty sure I have found the problem, I found 2 wires behind the drivers headlight that corroded so badly right as they enterred the connector that they fell apart as I touched them.

Because they are broken right at the base of the connector though I will have to find a qx4 in the junkyard to cut a harness connector and a few inches of wire to solder to my broken leads
