contemplating replacing drivers door with standard crank it up window. any nown issues with disconnecting the power window, lock, and controls? Id like to keep the passengerside power window working.

the door got hit and doesnt sit right. caught the rocker panel ever so slightly. not sure if i should even replace it if the hinges are off. car doesnt drive so i cant take it in. guy said to adjust window glass but i dont even have a battery in it to open and close it for adjustment.

guess ill have to wait on it.

suggestions?

i believe the drivers window controls also provide the circut for the pass. window. i'd have to check but im pretty sure. personally manual windows are better...they dont breakdown as easy!

make absolutely sure to adjust the window so that you can pull the bolts by using the power.what i mean is take off the interior while the door is still on the car, and line up the bolts with the holes in the door. otherwise youll have to move the glass with muscle, and on my last door, it took every ounce of strength to move the glass 2 inches. and im by no means a small guy.and take the hinges with the door when you get it pulld. they will be free with the door. and you know that theyll be ok.

If you don't complete the circuit for the power windows none will work. So yes you will need to keep driver side power to maintain the pass side working. Is your regulator still good? I get used junk yard "stuff " all the time at work and usually doors come with regulator and hinges and all that other fun stuff. if the rocker was hit and the door won't close, does it close?, well that usally means that a body pull to the pillar is needed... I dunno though b/c I'm not in front of the car.

Tip... to make a power window go up and down with out a battery in the car.

-detrim door-Find the regulator plug from the wiring harness in the door-unplug-using the plug on the regulator side connect one female connector, with length of wire(other end exposed wire) attacthed, to one prong inside the plug-repeat for other prong-get a car battery or jumper box-touch one wire to negative side of power source-touch other side to positive side of power source-window will either go up or down now-to reverse direction of window, switch the wires

if your regulator is good this will work... if you do it rightIhope this is what you're looking for, some more explination about your situation would be nice.

rats, i was hoping there'd be a way to circumvent it. the door latches but has to be slammed to close completely. I guess i'll have figure a way to transfer the assembly into the new door. i need the passenger side window to work im so used to em.

thanks for the input

a bunch of nuts and bolts and some patients. Take your time, transfer one piece at a time. Everything will transfer overwith no problems unless its bent. good luck

i know this is old but ive gotten alot of useful info so here it goes again...

essentially im looking to maintain the passenger power window.

i have a parts car with non power doors.

i could care less about the power mirrors, power locks, and drivers side window. as long as the passenger window works im happy even if i take out the controls from the passengers door and run a wire under the carpet to the center console. id just as soon eliminate the other stuff to simply things.

if the rocker panel is bent its so slight as to be nearly imperceptible.

thanks for the responses you guys are life savers.
