Recently due to my incompetence I blew up a rear drive axle for my S13. I decided that it was time for an LSD and all new rear bushings. Midway through this project I find that if I start the car and let off the clutch pedal with the gear shift in Neutral (5-speed) the driveshaft will still spin. When I grenaded the axle I was of course not sure what happened and ran the car through the gears just to make sure the transmission hadn't grenaded. The only real damage was the end of the axle shearing off, but now I believe I may have damaged my transmission. With the car started and driveline connected to the new LSD, it will still spin forward in all gears as it normally should. Is my transmission dead? How in the world could I have done this?

What happens when you place it in gear ?

While in neutral is it spinning fast ? or slow ?

have you installed the tires and sat the car down and seen if it still spins while planted on the ground ?

That's the thing, it spins very slowly, and that's with the car off the round and no axles or tires on it, just the diff.

ok try it and hold it with your hand i bet it wont move.

Meaning its just free rolling in transmission. gears are still moving when in neutral but with nothing bolted down to drive shaft (axlesand tires) there is nothing stopping it.

If it is slow grab and see what happens i bet it stops.
