So I called my not-so-local dealer today to get a price on a new drive shaft for my 1994 non-TCS Q45 and was quoted $2211.00 and told it was call a output gear assyl. I told them that the drive line has zero gears in it but they said that Infiniti never uses the right wording........ It also took them 2 hours to find it.....I am wondering if anybody here has replaced theirs and still has the part # handy or can direct me to a place that might list the infiniti drive shaft part # so that I may call them back and varify what the heck they are looking at?

ThanksScott

good god those people are stupid.

Next time tell them to check section 370 in the NISSAN FAST PROGRAM which is what they have.

37000-70U00- SHAFT ASSY, PROPELLER

Heres the best way to get the correct part number from the dealer for this particular part... You gotta love this, you'll sound like youknow more about the dealer part program than they do...

Tell them to type in your VIN number (have it handy), then in the box labeled PART CODE, tell them to type in 37000.. Then have them pull the part number, they should know how to do that, and youll get it.

The only thing i could find in the parts book as OUTPUT was the output shaft in the trans...

what really scares me is these people are PAID to do this for their LIVING!!!

Thanks Wes, as always your THE MAN.......The parts dept. is ran by a rather good looking woman so I don't want to punk her too badly but she was supposed to get a tech to help her find it. So what scares me is that guy who is working on rather technical cars .....I guess not every dealership can have their on Q45tech even though they should ....

Thanks againScott

I also called Joe and he figured about $600.00 to my door with tax and he has one. Not a bad deal at all. She (Infiniti parts babe) usually gives me better pricing though because my work is a vender of theirs so I get a deal. Hopefully I wont even need one as I have ordered a replacement carrier support bearing assy. as per Wes and will try that first.

Thanks All

For $500, I'd buy a new factory shaft... in fact I just did!

I just bought a new drive shaft that will fit either my '92 or '94. Both have TCS. Joe at Scottsdale looked up the numbers for me.I've heard that a TCS shaft fits a non-TCS vehicle, but not verifiedthat with Infiniti.

The part number was 37000-70U15 for $465.85To use this shaft in a '92 you need to order two additional brackets: 37511-66U00 & 37512-66U00 at $27.14 each.

The driveshaft in my '92 is shot, has been getting worse for a while, I just haven't been driving the car much. I think not driving it makes it worse, too (else I am just plain getting pickier) My '94 with 120K is still smooth, but am considering putting the new shaft in the '94 anyways, and moving the used shaft into the '92 with 193K. Wondering if it is worth the extra work.

ThanksScott

I still HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend people save money and go with PTI. They have a 1 year, no questions asked, vibration free warranty. They will ship you a new shaft for free!!! The factory sure as hell isnt gonna do that!
