OK, I have some questions regarding driveline angle. I'm concerned about the driveline angle in my '95 240SX.

I've replaced my OEM motor mounts which were shot to death with delrin motor mounts. The motor mounts were installed correctly, everything is flush and tight. I know that the delrin mounts I installed were supposed to lower the engine a little bit. But not low enough for me to tell a difference with my own eyes, the motor seemed to sit the same after I installed the mounts.

Recently, I noticed that my shifter was not centered. This was the 1st time I had taken a look at my shifter assembly since the new mounts were installed. The two front bolts to the shifter plate are now hard to get to. I'm guessing that the rear of the transmission had raised itself since the delrin mounts lowered the engine. I also noticed that the shifter was closer to the driver side.

So it seems that the shifter assembly/rear of transmission shifted upward and to the left about a 1/4 inch. I would not mind taking pictures to better show you guys if anyone is truly interested in seeing this for themselves.

As far as driveability is concerned, I have had no problems. Besides the normal added vibrations from the solid mounts, and shifter plate bolts being harder to get to, I have not had any problems with anything else.

So my question is, what's the most movement, or change in alignment a transmission can see without damaging, or causing a lot of wear to the transmission mount, or driveshaft u-joints? I know any change in degree will add wear, I guess I'm looking for a time frame?

Here you go: This website has maximum operating angles per driveshaft RPM should that be in question for you...

Also check to see if you have at least 1 degree of angle, lest you want to burn up a u-joint.

The 240SX uses a 2 piece driveshaft. So the only thing that is really in question is the pilot drive shaft, the one that attaches to the transmission. Which is very short, I don't know if length plays a factory too. It's definitely more than a degree, I can try to get pictures.
