Audi Car Club has some spots open October 20-21st at their High Performance Driving school at Summit Point Raceway, near Harpers Ferry WV. They'll close registration in about 10 days. It;s about a 90 minute drive from Baltimore and WashDc, 3 hrs from Pittsburgh and about 5 hrs drive from Cleveland. Worth the trip.

Summit Point is an awesome 10 turn road race circuit, I've been there many times. Owning an Audi is not required. In fact there are usually quite a few Sube's, DSM's, and at least one Nissan (mine) that'll be there. No special equipment is required except a seat belt. Helmets can be rented. It's two days with plenty of track time with a low price, you'll learn some skills, and meet a lot of fellow enthusiasts. Price includes a banquet and event T-shirt. If anyone's interested, I'll pass the link.

Any chance they'll host an event in Phoenix?

I've been DYING to sling Quella's fat arse around a road course, especially now that she's got new shox/springs/FSTB/tires/bushings/links/tension rods.

4250. :D

I've had her fully crossed up at WOT, rears boiling, looking out the passenger window at the road ahead - She's remarkably well-balanced, but it's a violent sight to see. :D

I can imagine it, my T-Bird probably weighs in pretty close to the Q, and that sucker will powerslide pretty good it also pulls .85g's on the skid stock:) There are few things as fun in life as throwing around a big car like it's a miata, am I right?

haha look at that run on sentence...

I hope we have something at the Nashville Speedway again, at the mustang and viper meet I believe they let other cars on too, god I'd hate to be on the road course with the vipers...

I have a good friend with a heavy modified Audi S6. It's a good 2 tons and a total hoot on the track. I have to pick out race prepared 944's from the grill each time I drive it. It's this huge sedan that gobbles up everything. I told my friend he needs to play the Jaws theme on his stereo when he drives it . You be surprised how many people with big cars go these events. There are even guys that rent sedans (take the CDW, of course) and beat the living snot out of them. (Rule #1 ,never buy used rental fleet cars)

Hitman: I don't think there are Audi events in Arizona...yet. They do have events at Pahrump (NV), Steamboat Springs (CO), Thunder Hill, Laguna Sega, Sears Point (CA)

here's their 2003 schedule link: http://www.audicarclubna.org/event/calendar.shtml

There are only 5 schools left this year. I'll be at two of them

Summit Point WV 10/20-21 . (easy drive from Philly too)Heartland Park (Topeka KS) 10/24-26Portland Raceway (OR) 11/1-2Sears Point (CA) 11/20-21VIRginia Int'l Raceway VIR 12/5-7. I'll be here too. VIR is literally a country club with a world class track. I had my Z on this track back in April. VIR is featured a lot on the Speed Channel.

Last year at Summit Point, one of the other instructors had a lightly modified Sentra SE-R. Very quick. There was also a student with a nice black (stock) 91 300ZX. We need more Nissan folks representin'.

Summit Point actually has two tracks. The infamous Jefferson Circuit is wicked. YOu'll see it featured on Motorweek a lot. And the main track has straightaways long enough to let you bounce off your speed/rev limiters.

Mr. 1der: I've driven a couple Vipers at LimeRock. primitive but awesome.

I dunno man, I think I'd buy a rental car, that way it's been broken in hard and well maintained(assuming it's from a good company) and they're usually cheap as honda's

These type of events are perfectly suited for cars like a 240sx. Much better fit than a drag strip (straight line acceleration is the 240's biggest weakness) Most folks will be very surprised how great a stock 240sx handles on a race track. I used to take mine regularly too. Underpowered cars are just as much fun as hi-powered cars on road race tracks.
