Hi,

My 240's transmission vibrates very bad from ~10-25 MPH. I have new Nismo transmission and engine mounts. I can feel the transmission shaking when holding the shifter. It will do this in first or second gear (have not tried 3rd at this speed). The only thing I can think of is that the drive shaft is out of balance or something. All other speeds run smooth without any problems. Does any one have any experience with this or can offer and help?

Thank you.

1990 240sx manual non-ABS.

Did you change anything else? Is the crossmember bolted up? New flywheel? New or changed diff? Tires the same size?

cross member is bolted up... but with only three bolts. One of the thread holes on the body is stripped. I recently replaced the transmission output shaft seal thing where the drive shaft goes in... but the problem existed before. I also very recently got 4 new tires and no changes to this problem. nothing with the differential has changed for about 20 years as far as I know. The flywheel was resurfaced when I put a new clutch in.. but I had this problem before that as well. But now it seems a little worse...

One thing I just remembered is that my drive shaft is the ABS version. So it is about .75" shorter than it should be.... but I don't see that being a problem.

If your car doesnt have ABS then you shouldnt be using the ABS driveshaft.

The driveshaft has 2 parts I think...the front one doesnt matter as long as its m/t driveshaft, but for the back it has to be ABS if your car has ABS. And non-ABS if your car doesnt have ABS.

Atleast thats how it is for S14s

I realize that....

I'm really trying to see if anyone else had the same issue so I can confirm what the problem is.

This was my drive shaft after all. The carrier barring was all chewed up.

Good to know you fixed it.

Also, just wondering how the car feels now with the new mounts? anything slightly discomforting at all? vibrations? etc?

Dman,

The mounts are very reasonable. I would recommend for street/daily driver use. It's been so long but I don't remember any more vibrations or noises. I run these mounts on my 1990 and 1995. I love them on both no problems.
