Finally took my Q to a BG service shop and after a couple of hours weighing the pros and cons of a BG flush vs a drain & fill, I went for the BG flush w/Quick Clean and seal conditioner, using my own Mobil 1 ATF synthetic fluid. Reluctant at first, because of the high mileage (155K), but after dropping pan and inspection, there was surprisingly little residue. Never had been serviced since I owned the car, 52K when I got it, I was impressed. The fluid still had some pink color, no burnt odor, or discoloration, the test drive show smooth shifting, so I decided to clean the pan, magnet, reinstall, and go ahead with the flush. Used Beck-Arnley Transmission Kit from Advance auto for 33.95 w/strainer, O ring and rubber gasket. I assume because it was like a fel-pro type gasket, and not cork, reusing the bolts was no problem. Required 15 qts of Mobil ATF also purchased at Advance for 8.96 each. According to BG tech, using the prepackaged BG universal fluid would have been cheaper.

In addition, I did the BG Differential Service. Easy, not labor intensive because Infiniti provides a fill access port and a drain access port on the differential housing so no need to break the seal or remove bolts. However, letting a shop tech snoop around may have been a mistake. It appears that I may need rack and pinion replacement and rear struts. I guess I'll be heading to that topic next.

I will install the B&M 70264 cooler from Summit in the same manner as Maxnix, and also the PRM-10678 also from Summit, myself. As soon as I can get some more ATF, seems both stores in my location are out.

A little spendy for the M1 ATF. It's about $5 here at O'Reillys (Kragen?).

The filter kit with new O ring, gasket, one time use bolts is less from Joe.

Use a GL5 synthetic in the differential.

Assume they gave you the BG ATF you didn't use?

How does it shift? 6 0z. of Lube Guard Red?

Prices I found were in the range 7.89 to over 10 dols, however Advance was the only place local I could get Mobil 1 ATF..figured that was high when the BG tech said his ATF was cheaper. However, when I checked my trunk for the left over ATF - nothing. My specs say that capacity is 10.5 qts, however the BG people say its 11.2 qts. In any case they should have returned the 3 qts. I will take that up with them on Monday. No lubegard either. Will have to run that down also. The BG differential package included heavy duty - Ultra Guard, 75W-140 Synthetic Gear Lubricant, and LS II Limited Slip Additive. That was their Drive Line Service. Shifting feels about the same, except slightly smoother and softer. The symptom I first discussed in the this topic, is less apparent now and more muffled, but it still occurs if I drive before warmup to normal temp.

Thanks. Went to the shop this morning, BG says they need 16 qts, which is the size of their prepackage container, guess I owe them one. Found Lubegard at Carquest. Autozone is 7.99 for M1 ATF vs Advance 8.79. Could hv saved about 14 dols if I went to Autozone first. Working on install of cooler and filter, then on to the rack and power steering. Thanks everyone for help.
