Drive through (Tunnel wash) car wash ok?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have a 2010 EX35. On the roof there is a 7 inch antenna that sticks out the top and I was wondering if that was fine to drive through a tunnel wash like http://www.brownbear.com/ ?

Personally I would remove it. It's very easy to unscrew.

:chuckle: Get a shark fin then you don't have to worry about that ugly antenna.

Been through one a few times already. No problem. If you're a paranoid type, I think it's easy to unscrew though.

The manual recommends you remove it before going through a carwash (like RedwinGV said, it unscrews pretty easily) but I doubt it would get hurt unless some roller came down pretty hard on it. Don't know what brownbear uses for the top.

You should remove it (quick fast unscrew) before you enter a car wash tunnel. Noted in the manual as well.

My Benz antenna came off, maybe due to not removing it. YIKES!

So remove it...BUT BUT BUT
Do NOT screw it on right away, with water all inside the threads. That will not be good. You need to let the inside dry out well, meaning perhaps driving around for several hours with no radio. Or sticking Kleenex in there to dry it out, and then still letting it air out a while .

My2010 EX 35 has been through many different automatic car washes with the antenna on and nothing has happened to it. It's hard to imagine that on a luxury car you have to unscrew the antenna go through a car wash, wait until all dries out and screw it back in. But the moon roof leaks a few drops every time. Maybe yours does too. While going through a car wash slide the fabric unclear part back, keep the glass part closed, and you'll notice the leakage during the power wash. I'll take it to the dealer for that matter.
