Guys, I was reading the manual about the drive sport mode, and it doesn't really say much of what the benefits of it is.

My question is how many of u actually use it? And what r the benefits of using this and when should I use it? This is the first time coming across this mode and I don't want to really use it unless I understand fully how it works, I don't wanna screw up the transmission ya know?

I have a 2008 g35x

I use it. I've noticed however, if you do a 3rd gear, or 2nd gear pull in the car, at low speeds, and then switch out of DS mode into regular Drive mode, the car may shift a bit uneasy at first, however it will pick up very shortly after and shift correctly.

I use DS mode on the interstate, to shift down and pass, or just do a pull. Also on back roads when I just want to do a quick pull to 60. I have switched it to DS mode, and used to padel shifters to shift gears till 5th. Everything went smooth as glass.

On older models (before 2008) the system was kind of slow in responding, so it wasn't used as frequently. On our 2008+ models, the system is very quick at shifting. Long term side affects could see some wear on gears, just as a manual would? Im not for sure on that, so don't quote me on it.

I am also weary of screwing up the transmission, but buddy, you shift it into 3rd at 80mph, push the rpms into 5k, and slam the gas, that car will scream into 7k, and shift into 4th, and its a freakin BLAST! I love it.

There are a few people that use it a lot more then I do. I just love doin 40mph-60mph 2nd gear pulls, or a few 80mph, to 120mph, 4th gear pulls on the interstate.

You may want to dig into it deeper, and try to find some long term side effects. I've experienced some bucking in a loaner shifting from reverse to drive at almost a stop, when backing out of somewhere, and this could be a long term side effect of using DS mode frequently, not for sure.

Post up if you see any complications.

DS mode shift gear like MT without a clutch. Just up and down though. You can shift with your auto stick knob (but not like MT, just up and down) or pedal shifter on your steering wheel.

Ummm if this mode wears out the transmission over time, why even bother using it? The auto transmission by itself is fast to begin with cause of the 300+ horse power....does it make that much of a difference?

It's not that it wears any faster than regular mode, it's just more aggressive and thus increases wear. I use it when I want to drive "sporty". In fact, I used it in the north GA mountains recently and it was a blast! In fact, on the way to Cherokee, NC there is a mountain that you go over. On the down side, the transmission would actually keep it in a higher gear to keep the cruise control speed constant.

The car was great on the trip. The only issue I had was with the sport seats. They caused some extra fatigue on my thighs....but it was worth it for the suspension and brake performance!

I love all the features with our seats. Its an hour drive to work for me from Acworth/Kennesaw to Douglasville/Lithia Springs. Love that I can adjust for the ride, and never get a 'wear spot'

Yay!

To bad our TPMS sucks a**, I knew my tires were low, Damnit.

That's all I use and the manual part. Only use D if I go on HWY and it is boring. Rest goes with DS or manual.

from using DS mode you can see the logic is opposite of D. While D tries to keep you in the highest gear possible for best MPG, DS mode tries to keep you in the lowest gear and in the engines power band. It also aggressily down shifts as you come to a stop. I LOVE IT, but im in manual most of the time.
