1990 RHD TT , and its a 2+2, i have replaced the hanger bearing/mount which took away the random thumping under acceleration. but i still have a drive line shake, i have balanced all 4 tires on our roadforce balancer at work, they are 4 toyo proxy 4 all around. balanced out with minimal weights. i have a light clicking in reverse and suspect the cv knuckle has dried out inside. i checked the boot and it still intact no tears and no grease coming out. there is also a squeak at 2000 rpm that matches the driveline rpm under very light throttle cruising. im planning on swapping out the whole shaft now with a 1 peice aluminum with the spicer u joint in the rear with such unique features at...a grase fitting!

what kind of gains have you guys experienced with the drive shaft upgrade? im assuming a mild bump in acceleration?

I am interested in the power/performance gains as well.

The gains with a drive shaft will be minimal at best because of the rotation mass. Think of how big the circumference is of a drive shaft vs a flywheel. A lighter flywheel will have a much larger impact for this reason. A drive shaft will not just because of how small circumference is. Most of the time a one piece can help with smoothness if your center bearing is going bad but besides that not much.

Yeah it won't do a ton for power improvement, but it will smooth out drivetrain noise/vibration. Getting an aluminum one would give you a few hp over a steel one just because of less rotating mass. Not sure if there would be any noticeable difference in acceleration response over the stock 2-piece one. Either way you should still get a one piece driveshaft :dblthumb:
