hi guys im going to do my 5 speed swap next week and i got some problems. my car is a 96 ob2 240sx and i got a 93 ob1 transmission because s14 trannys are hard to come by.. i want my 240 to not throw a cel coz i dont want my car to fail the inspection so i want to drill a hole on the s13 transmission that i bought. so could somebody that has an s14 manual transmission make a measurement on the spot where i need to drill a hole coz im not really sure on the exact spot or somebody could make me like a stencil so itll be more accurate and i could pay for your service and the shipping.

this is the s14 crank angle sensor hole:

and this where the crank angle sensor on the s13 supposed to be is:

and this is what the stencil should be like:

ill greatly appreciate you help.. . btw somebody told me that i could put a resistor to something to trick the ecu that i have the crank angle sensor but i cant find any info of it on here same thing with the wiring the check engine light to the abs light please let me know if you guys know how to do it.

icemhan_21: have you drilled the hole in the bellhousing for the CAS yet? i am running into the same issue on my swap. i am concerned about the precision required for the placement of the CAS. i know the sensor is an inductive type sensor that sends a signal to the ECM which, in turn, uses said signal to determine when to fire spark and inject fuel for combustion. i am uncertain of the allowable tolerance with regard to the sensor position in relation to the flywheel surface. can somebody, anybody, help out on this? this has been bugging the sh$t out of me.

thanks,kevin

EDIT: thanks for the dimensions motoman

alright i finally got off my butt and made this template for you guys. it was made from a s14 bell housing adapted for the s13 bell housing. you should have no problems making your holes. so here it is...

these are alignment pins so you get that perfect fit lol

and the washer i made into a spacer for the S13 trannys only.

P.S. the big alignment pin is the same size as the sensor

hope this works great for you guys!

this guy is the most awsome man on the internet! i only asked for a card board or a sheet of paper to make the template on but he made it using metal and he even made me a spacer for the sensor. i would give this guy a million positive reps if theres any in here!

just fyi you dont really need this sensor.. my s14's isnt working and it throws a CEL but has no effect on operation. i have a 95 so maybe full OBDII's have a problem with not having it, i dont know.

just an FYI - don't sweat about it too much.

see, everyone is telling me that it will not start if i dont have the crank sensor connected.. im using an 95 trans in a 98. the 95 has no crank sensor. im right in the middle of this project and i need help. i thought about drilling the hole but i dont know the dimensions and what not. also, the crank sensor is "rasied" about an 1/8th of an inch or so on the trans. even if i manage to drill it out, will in stick in too far and not work? if i can run without it, then i wont use it. i dont car about cel's. i live in iowa and we dont have inspections. i just want it to work.

You would have to try and get in contact with the above poster to get the template. Hopefully he still has it. Good luck.
