Has anyone drilled the bottom portion of their rear license plate? I dampened and deadened the plate and frame, but physics is physics and since the bottom portion isn't secured to the car it rattles against the body when the subs going and it is annoying. So, has anyone secured the bottom portion of the plate to the car by drilling or other? If you drilled, how did you do it as far as preventing rust and if you used something like an anchor for the screw. Any insight helpful.

When I had a system in the trunk I just screwed the top blots tight enough to where it didn't move. I don't know how much power you're pushing or how much bass you have but I had 500w RMS and the only problem I had was the rear fenders vibrating and some stuff underneath. The screws I used weren't what the car came with and I also don't have a license plate frame. One thing you could possibly try is some 3M tape behind it or the dynomat license plate frame. Image

Wedge a small piece of spongey foam behind the plate?

I used 3M double sided tape, preferably one for outdoor use(Red tape w/ gray adhesive)....in fact i picked it up at a walgreens or cvs....i lined my carbon fiber plate frames with it....then stuck my license plate to the frame....then put the tape on back of the license plate(sides and bottom)....and that was the end of my vibration....bout $3

What I did was used closed cell foam and line the inner edge of the frame then put the plate in, then put the foam on the entire backside off the plate. So the plate and frame is actually banging against the foam. What I just thought about was the metal clip that holds the plate in the frame..but I doubt that is causing what I am hearing. I'm wondering if it is the Plexiglas in the frame causing the noise. The only reason I didn't think of that before is because the rattle stopped when I hold the owe part of the frame against the body. I'll. Try the double tape between the plate and foam, and put a little bit of foam between the plate and frame clip and see what happens.

I have the same issue with mine. I detailed my car yesterday and attempted to correct the rattle from my subwoofer. I triple stacked double sided velcro tape on the top, bottom, and both sides of my license plate. With the two screws in very tight, the plate does not rattle. Although, I do have a license plate cover so I am back to my rattle....lol.
