If you do some searching you'll find previous threads about slotted rotors. Apparently, according to some, they are better at dissipating heat but have a greater tendency to crack or break.

That's REALLY cheap for rotors. My cost (as a wholesale dist) is more than that (for OEM).

Probably lighter and thinner, with less meat on the inside (where the vanes are).

I would only trust a reputable brand, ie: Brembo, Powerslot or Powerstop. Slotted only rotors are less likely to crack than drilled or drilled/slotted. If you look at Brembo's official data, they say about thier own drilled or drilled / slotted rotors "not suitable for track use" but their slotted only rotors are "suitable for track use". To me, that says it all. That said, I had Brembo slotted rotors on my Si and loved them. I plan to get the same for the Q, about 45 bucks each IIRC.

I would not trust them for spirited driving on such a large, heavy vehicle.

I agree with that statement

For the average person (non track) drilled rotors are juts fine... Only under high heat/cooling (going fast, stopping then going fast again) will it really matter...

I don't drive all that hard, and my rear drilled and slotted rotors cracked, one day, while in heavy traffic, this summer.

It was primarily caused by my left rear caliper pin sticking, and the pad rubbing non-stop. It would be several hundred degrees hotter than the right one, when I would stop & check them with the IR temp gage.

I would not be afraid of using them, if you change them your self, because they may only last about 30,000 miles, where the OEM's will last 3 times that, with proper care.

Did you get noticeable increase in power with this setup? Is it worth the cash spent?

sent email to the seller:

oxs1: Are these rotors factory weight and thickness (oem). Where are they MADE?

Answer: They are OEM spec rotors but weigh less than the OEM ones for performance. These are made in Canada and serviced in the USA. Thanks.

Danger!!!

Resistance to rotor deformation is directly related to material (type of cast iron) and mass of the rotor disc. The OEM specification is already marginal. Lighter rotors are not what you want unless you like to get on the lathe every couple of months.

I got drilled, slotted Bradi rotors for my Q from this source and was very happy with them. Bradi is a sister company to Brembo, by the way.

Irotors also sells on eBay. But, be aware, their blanks are not always Bradi or Brembo. Ask for these, if you want them. Irotors can also do just slotted, or just drilled, and will also Zinc-plate for a nominal fee (prevents rusting.)
