So I was wondering what would happen in a local law enforcement officer witnessed a full-fledged, all-out, massive drift. Has this happened to anyone? what kind of ticket would you get? Reckless Driving? Reply with stories, fines, charges, etc. I bet there are some funny speeches from the cops, and excuses from us. . .

Definately, but someone on this board has had to have been caught at least once. Anyways, what would you be charged with? what would you say? "I hit a puddle of oil and just made a stunning recovery." :)

My guess would be reckless endangerment and stunting... probably followed up with a few hundred dollar fine and possilbe license suspension :)

it just really depends on what and how bad the cop wants to nail you. it would in most cases be a dual ticket....exhibition of speed (here a $550 aprox ticket and 8 points on your license, max is 12)and reckless driving which also has the same fines approx. i myself have never been caught.

i do have a funny story about when my friend got caught.

one night three of us are playing gran turismo 3 races for shots of gin.....no we didn't drink and drift. because one guy lost all the time.....so he was the one taking all the shots....he was pretty well spun. we decided let's go drift.....so we took to cars, the drunk guy riding with me.... we went to a parking lot where we warm up at.....and we sliding around the corner of the building...Kai my friend with the trueno says hey come ride with me......i hop in his car and park mine behind the building....our drunk friend just sat in my parked car.we pull a fat drift around the corner of the building that made clouds of smoke.......at the end of the parking lot are a pair of headlights pointing at us......oops....we look at eachother

gotta go....i will continue this post later sorry guys,,,

TO BE CONTINUED.......

ive been caught !! it was four in tha morning i was just leaving work to do a bank deposit. i was flying up Lane ave. an i hit a 90deg turn on to N High st (columbus ohios main street) i have an auto no lsd so its a rough drift when i hit it, but i pulled this one at like 25mph an i was half in the on coming lane half in mine almost completely side ways, i get it back and start to acellerate out . well the light i went though was green i look up to see a car go right through that light, red for him. my heart skipped probably 10 beats as i grab my seat belt an prepare to fork over my license, ive got 8 points as it is. he pulls me aside onto a OSU campus road an he asks me "what was that all about" i told him my auto transmission when cold kinda shifts rough out o first an it threw me sideways. he obviously didnt believe me.we have a few words an he goes back to the car for like 30-45 mins running my info. i figure waiting for back up an tow truck. finally he comes back hands me my ID an tells me i hope you wouldnt have been stupid enough to do that right in front of me, ( eveidently he was stopped at the light i just wasnt payin attenion ) i said oh no im not an he says well just slow it down an be a little more careful.. so he walks away, well hes was about back to his car an i holler at him, hey can you follow me to the bank while i do my deposit ! he agrees an we goto the bank an then i talk to him for a min, he wasnt all that bad for a PIG

sorry kind lenghty it was a great experiance

I don't see why people hate cops. I don't. Their job is to look out for our well-being. If you're stupid enough to break the law, and get caught for it, its your fault. No need hating him/her, they're just doing their job. Leave the racing and the drifting on the track where it belongs.

Without cops, this world would be a very different place. By no means would it be better.

Nick.

TRUE, TRUE.......yeah if i am ****in' around and i get caught...hell i'll pay the price for it....but i never endanger anyone else..and it has taken me years of practice to feel comfortable drifting on roads....but yeah i can been doing speed limit and be followed for blocks just because i'm not stock(not for a reputation i have with cops, remember i've never been caught) plus one of my friends had their arm broken in front of me by some cops, and there was no reason for it, then they stuck him with a bogus ticket.

so yeah i kinda have a hard time respecting cops...only because the image they have portrayed for themselves.

so there we are ....Kai slams on the brakes and we come to a halt.the headlights staring at us from the other side of the parking lot....blocking the entrance and exit to it. suddenly spotlight turn on and flashing red and blue...our hearts sunk.....so all the usual procedures....and bam there's the ticket....if i remember correctly it was called.....reckless driving in a parking lot with public access...in other words if it was fenced in with no public access from a street then we wouldn't have gotten a ticket.

so you think it's over???...did you forget about my drunk friend in my car around the back of the building? i didn't

i said "let him follow us out, then we'll come back for Sam." so we start to drive out of the lot onto the street....the cop......decides to drive around the building.... "oh ****!" we both say. "damn, the cop is gonna find my car, also sporting a SLIDEWAYS banner, with Sam in it drunk as hell. dude drop me off" i say to Kai....i get out and run like hell before the cop starts talking to Sam and matters get worst. i slow down to a walk at the corner and yell out, "excuse me, officer!" making sure not to give him any reason for freak out and shoot my ***. the cop looks up, i've got my hands up, scared as ****. i look at my car...SAM IS SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT......s*** !!! "i'm sorry officer, that's my car..." i dangle my keys in the air. "he was just waiting for us" the cop lets me drive off without too much trouble never having the chance to smell sam's breath or accuse me of drifting......

FIN!

hope that wasn't too long.

P.S. the continuation was not planned to torture you guys...i had to run to the autobody shop to meet my insurance agent...BUT THAT IS ANOTHER STORY. and yes drift-related...expensive ****.

I want to hear that story now. I just got my car at the beginning of july, I have noticed more cops look at me funny when I get into my car than I ever did while I drove my dad's car. Some cops are just a$$holes and need a head check, one of my moms friends got a ticket for doing 51 in a 50 zone, I mean what kind of dumb a$$ would give a 55 year old woman a ticket for doing 51 in a 50.

Oh and BTW they were brobaly looking at me funny cause a 6'2" 300 lbs man was getting into a small sportscar lol.

I almost ot caught one day when My friends and I were out at the mall one night after it snowed and we started doing handbrake turns, little did we realize that there wasa a cop coming around the corner. We escaped that with the very little room to spare. The cop wasnt used to driving a RWD car in snow as I live in Vancouver BC where it doesnt snow. We barely got out of there without him following us.

If you're on a street, it's a nice reckless driving...maybe careless if the cop is in a good mood. A friend of mine got caght in such a situation in a parking (proof that ff can drift btw...he's got official FL paperwork to prove it :) ), and he got charged with reckless...ended up getting off with careless driving after going to court. He probably could've defeated it entirely imo since parking lots (private property) are outside of police traffic jurisdiction in FL....this was also before the new street racing law went into effect...so now you could probably get charged with something under that law (which strangely enough includes parking lots even though at the beginning of FL statutes on traffic the jurisdiction is only limited to public roads and property unless under agreement with the property owner), in which case it'd be a nice felony.

In FL, you don't even have to be driving to be charged with DUI, you only have to be capable of doing so...or something to that effect. I know a guy who got charged with DUI...what was he doing? sleeping in his car. He was at an after hours party at work, got drunk, decided he should sleep it off...so he got in his car and went to sleep...but because he was capable of driving the car (in the front seat, keys nearby) he was technically DUI...so remember...if you're sleeping it off in your car, pull the spark plug wires or something....maybe lock yourself in the trunk :)

yeah i think i stopped the cop from talking to him just in time. i'm sure we've got some sort of law like that here also. however i didn't leave my friend with the keys...forgot to mention this. and get this, that dumbass said he was wondering what was taking so long and he was going to drive out and see where we went. thank God i didn't leave the keys in the car.
