i think they have just about the same weight balance, and as far as which would be easier, i think they will be about the same. just know that drifting on a stock suspention and powertrain will break things and cause increased wear and strain on just about everything

You're going to want to have a LSD (if it doesn't already) and probably a different transmission and probably more power too. Stiffer springs would help a lot too. Just remember that you will most likely hit a wall or two so i hope u don't mind a scratched up car. Scratchs make me so mad on my daily driver

240kid is right just about the same balance. but technically the fastback would be closer b/c its abot 50 pounds heavier in the rear compared to the coupe.

I don't agree with spartan though. I wouldn't get anything yet. its best to start on a stock car that way if you break something you won't have to replace any new parts. plus its easier to recover from a drift with stock parts.don't worry about power or lsd yet. just practice then stiffer springs. and as you get better upgrade more parts.

I know this way sounds long but it helps I haven't hit anything while drifting b/c of the way I practice. don't try things you aren't sure you can do.if you haven't done it yet take you time learning.

Learn it from the old papa. i lost whole rear end of my car while flying on intersection. took turn at 45-50 on a small intersection. while trying to bring it back in line, i hit both sides of road, broke rock of the sidewalk with my alloys, both sides, control arms, axles, prtty much everthing needed to be replaced. price was okay, and i tested it later seeing that safest speed at that intersection for drift was about 40 mph, just 5 mph less. test was done after the car was fixed.

all im trying to say is, know your limits, consider your tire rating, size, road condition and how wide it is + all other mechanical limits of your vehicle.

i dont have any experience with drifting, but when you are driving at the limit (or in this case trying to control the car beyond its limit) a fraction of a mile per hour can make the difference between just making it through a turn or losing control of your car. you should be very comfortable driving your car at its limit of traction before you attempt to take it beyond.

Somehow I've always thought that coupes was closer to 50-50.

so did I but like I said when you think about it the hatches are closer b/c of that big window in the back and we have about 53/47 weight distribution.
