i was wondering what things need extra maintenance once you start drifting regularly. i could not find anything on this in a search, so, if anyone can point me to a preexisting thread or give me a list of things that commonly go wrong and warning signs it would be a great help

here is my pre-event checklist

diff fluid (replace every event. stupid kaaz)engine oil (check, replace every other event)coolant (same as oil)trans fluid (same, except replace every 3ish events)check all suspension components. ball joints, bolts, nuts, tie rods, etc. make sure nothing is loose or damaged. check brake pads/calipers/lines

im sure im forgetting stuff but thats what i do to prepare for an event. tires are not a maintance item, they are a perishable like brake pads.

that 240 in your sig is freakin sweet! i was thinking about doing that engine swap a few years down the road. did you have a shop do it or did you do it yourself? if it was a DIY, how invovled was it?

i did it myself, wiring, mounts, etc. it wasnt too bad. lotsa little **** kept comming up. i did mine about 2 years ago so there was even less information on the swap than there is now.

haha

i figure, whats an extra hour beofre every event. could save me tons of money and time in the long run if something catastrophic happens. that and my "events" usually consist of being on a road course for 2 days. 1 day of grip, 1 day of drift.

everyone says the best thing to do, before drifting, is learn the proper apexes and to do autox or grip. but i dont think theres anywhere to do that around here and i hear is expensive, so is there any cheaper way to learn?

u r so correct.before i started anything with drifting, i did autox for a year. it is very good to have some experience like that so u know how a car acts and what to do. i c many cars on practice day that dont know much and just panic or just push the car when its understeering. i just started drifting so i am not great or anything, but better than the guys that started the same time as me and didnt do autox, where i am better.
