If there were to be a new mag coming out focused in Drifting... what would it look like and what would the content be???

Let me start by saying:

I would like to see a lot of DIY's and not on some shop car but on some normal daily drive cars

I would also like to see more interviews of people around the nation who are not sponsored by big companies and put everything they had in their cars so they can go out and drift in it!!

more coverage on the local drift days and stories behind the different cars that people use out there...

along those lines... what else would you like to see??

I just want to know what people want to see in a mag....

lots of high quality photos. the reason i quickly got addicted to modified magazine is that they have thick, glossy paper and the photo quality is so much better than super street or scc.

Super Street's articles could be written by 4 year olds, they suck.Modified's pictures are the best I've seen, now only if they did more tech.

anyways, if there was a drifting magazine, I would want it to have lots of really good DIY's (already said) and some writers that don't make you go " how the hell did he get hired"

Black240: Id like to see that for all magazines, not just a drifting one. Im tired of seeing GReddy and HKS cars. Who gives a ****. Are the people buying these magazines actually going to make a car like them? I always love to see a car on 1 piece wheels with the stock engine and no body work in a mag

that's what I'm talking about...

If I were to have enough money to start one! lol.. like that would ever happen...

I would put cars that regular americans drive... although you would NEED those HKS and GReddy cars too... once in a while..

but I want to see more of the every day joe shmoe with his S13/S14/Ae86 or whatever.... see what mods they have and a article on them every month....

but the thing is that.... would that mag make money???

does everyone want to see just your avg joe on there or again a really nice souped up HKS/GReddy car?? ??

you know what I mean!?!?

My friend's wife can read Japanese and was born there. She also picked up some Carboy and Option mags when she visited her family in Japan. She hates when we make her read articles, but thats after I look at all the pictures. Nick

There is a magazine called Drifting .. It was put out by ImportRacer... It featured some guys personal cars.. One of which I remember was some guy who worked for Tanabe and it was his personal gt-s r33. Pretty sweet looking.. Also it featured some of the popular D1 cars such as the Falken 180, the Car Maker T&E Soarer and the Falken tire Chaser. But had write ups for turning a 240 and an ae86 into a "drift car". Pretty cool also had a big story about this guy who grew up drifting his N/A supra in the 80's.. And a feature of Benson and his wifes cars, benson's is that guy with the famous Sil80 , owns sileightymania.com and his wife has a pretty cool fast back as well nadine180.com

i know what you mean, if a magazine doesn't include certain things it won't make money. and if it doesn't make money then the magazine won't exist. Perhaps certain magazines want to do things different, but can't. thats what people don't understand, if you wanna stay in a buisness you have to find a way to make money from it to stay in it. A lot of people are saying of ricer that, super street sucks cuz of this and that, and your entitled to your opinion but you have to realise that the magazine company's goal is the sell the most copies they can, and if that means putting show car with 20 inch rims on the cover, instead of a 10 second sleeper, then they'll put the show car on.

the chances of there ever being a magazine dedicated strickly to drifting is pretty slim, however the whole drifting thing is getting bigger, you can't just put what ever you want in a magazine, without thinking about the outcomes.

Make sure that it is put out by Primedia (specifically by the SCC guys) That would be the only way I would buy it on a regular basis.

I want tech. Not bling tech like how to put on lowering springs, but full on model specific tuning how to's. I want fuel maps. I want spring rates. I want the torque used on the damn lug nuts. NUMBERS!!!! GIVE ME NUMBERS!!!!!

There is one...I can't remember the name. I mett one of the photographers/editors at the last car show I was at, he was EXTREMELY interested in doing a piece on my friend's hachi with a 12A rotary.

I'll try and remember the name of it.

"Drifting Magazine" is already out there by Import Racer. i have their first issue and the content doesn't seem too bad.http://www.importracermag.com/drifting/

if Nico can release it's own version of drifting related magazine would be great. unless Black240 is serveying content for the above mag'.

lol...you're right! hmm...

the articles in the mag. are some what the same of what SCC and others have covered. Import Racer mag seemed to illustrates some of the most played out vihicles, rather than more on the technical side.

i was thinking thats a little on the ricer side, but hey, if they can tell you how to do it, more power to them.

i'd like to see everything that black said in the first post and also coverage of the japanese drift scene.....of course coverage of D1 .....and most of all no advertisements that are not related to drifting or drift cars.......but as D1SR240 said....it would be hard to support a magazine on such a small population of drifters....

the "drifting" mag put out by import tuner was ok i guess for a first mag.....problem is as far as i know NONE of the staff drifts.....that just isn't right.....the drift your civic article(magazines have to sell someway, i guess) i never even read.....there is an article about drifting domestic cars.....and some info on a ae86 and s13 setups.... the ae86 article is much more informative and interesting, talks a lot about correct suspension geometry.....overall decent for a first effort.
