It seems that here in japan that whenever guys are practicing to drift for a competition they are doing it up in the mountains as a touge type thing and i was wondering if you need to have a certain set up for more touge runs than say in a track like fuji speedway

they do not mountain drift as much as you think

and a well balanced, good handling car will excel at nearly any situation.

I know when I lived in japan for 3 1/2 years we never really drifted a course we went to boat docks until the cops kicked us out of there and then went to matsuo mountain or to tokuyama and went drifting. If we were not at Sagatas street racing. Kinda went in a circle arcade till 9pm, boat docks till 10pm then sagatas from 10:30 till 11:30 or 12 then to the mountains till about 3am then home. This was a every friday-saturday night thing, unless it was raining then it was straight from the docks to the mountains.

i havent been out to the docks yet, how is it there, like i said ive only been up mnt fuji and mnt akina, ya like you said we usually drift on the street here more than we do on the track even though there are a bunch of tracks here, i like the more adrenaline rush when drifting on the streets or mountains

You guys are fools, dont know about your rule in Japan but here in America we keep our locations secret. Read a little before you write, talking about the stickies. It says you can drift wherever you want but.........1st off dont talk about it, 2nd these forums are frequented by street drifters worst enemy the cops. So for all our sakes, keep it under wraps.

lol, you must not watch initial D

but yes, we do touge alotMy setup is normally softer all around that a track, mainly due to the road being slightly more unpredicatable in condition VS a track preparationi also run about an inch higher

The cops in Japan already know where everyone drifts, all they do is drive by and tell everyone to not park on the side of the road. So i dont see a big deal about giving away our drift spots, but as for myself i like to keep it on the track as much as possible. Every month Dori-Ten has a page about all the drift events at Fuji speedway, usually between 10,000-13,000 yen for the whole day. The car shop i go with usually has about 20 people so you get to run as much as you like. Plus if you crash or break down theres plenty of people to get your car going again. We will be going on July 23rd so if you wanna go up there your welcome, there some really cool guys.

cause we go to jail for street dorifto and cars get crushed.....

and I'm not sure if cops in japan chase you or use 2ways? but here they use helicopters and the local new follows you so once you loose the police they find you again, due to said local news....

This is off topic but I have a few ?'s 1) are you guys military. 2) how hard is communicating and getting around. 3) are any of you guys black (in my research I've read a few horror stories). I plan on visiting first than moving there if I like it once I finish my electrical engineering stint in school.

i dont know how mainland is but for military on okinawa, if you get caught just watching a drifting event (even a legal sanction event by autobacs or d1) you get your licence taken away for at least 6 months. (im a dependent so its a little different)

but we really dont have that many touges around here just up north and enobi, every where else are just docks or low traffic areas.
