I would like to know if any of you guys ever drifted in a z32.I am supposed tp be getting a 95 240, but I also spotted some z32's for the same price. I never tried to get a 300zx sideways before, so I dont know how it handles, or if its hard to correct. What do you guys think.

I have seen a few fellows drift Z32's at a drift event. Its a slightly heavier car but still good for drifting, autoX etc non-the-less.

The car does have a bit more weight but can also have more power.Still RWD and with the right setup should slide just fine.;)

apparently old JT here doesn't think they're dirf queen material, myself I'd bend them over my knee and lay into them with my ruler!

the Z as stated above, can be drifted, it's rather low and wide and sticky so it's gonna be resistant about getting sideways.

pretty much any RWD vehicle can be drifted. I've seen a 300zx drift, so it obviuosly can be done. Having more power is always a good thing.

heavy cars aren;t good for drifting...but with good suspension, anda good amount of skill it can definitely be done.if you just wanna driftit, get a s14

the parts are cheaper for a 240, and i am betting the insurance would be cheaper(i dunno if that is an issue)

240's are pretty cheap on insurance. My 89 240 is cheaper than my 94 altima was.

hi i'm a new member and i have a 300zx na, and am intrested in drifting. I've taken my car sideways quite a few times and have never spun out. i have no suspension upgrades, and it handles fine sideways. just make sure you have the right power band going to the slide, i use between 35-40mph and half way through the turn i punch the gas, no problems.

if you wanna drift a heavy car, go for a crown victoria. Before you laugh they had one at the D1, it was even in SCC.

FYI: 300ZX is a great car. I've gotten some seat time in a few starting with my moms :)If you've ever drifted a Supra by chance or any "slightly heavier" car as some of you put it then you should be able to counter act the "slightly heavier" body. I don't mind it actually I was fine with it. Just take into account drifting and power sliding is something of a diffrent ball game, lol.

Z32s tend to have oil supply issues at the limits under high G manuevers, such as drifting... if you drift a Z32, add an extra 1/2 to 1 full quart of oil (but don't over fill beyond the top of the dipstick). This should help keep you from sloshing all the oil to one side of the motor, leaving the crank & oil pickup exposed. A good friend of mine spun a rod bearing in his Z at a drifting event. =( But if you can control them, they're awesome. I believe a Z32 just won a major drifting event over in Japan. ^_^

I have pulled off some good drifts with my heavy Z31 so I am sure it is possible to drift in the Z32. Keep in mind though, that the only time I can drift well in my Z31 is during ir after a heavy rain, for obvious reasons. Z's are not the greatest cars for drifting, stay with the 240sx for that. I have had a few close calls which were not from my lack of ability to drift but from the weight of my car. Get the car up to a high speed, especially a z31 and try to drift and the weight seems to carry you much further then you would want it to. Pick up a s13 along with your Z32 and have the best of both worlds. That is what I plan to do down the road.

(Or if you have the money, a FD RX7 drifts really well and has a superb body style but is a pain in the rear to maintain and fix)

Well im not a drifter but, i think the Z31 frame is lighter then the 32... I dono why but it just looks like a smaller car... so if you were gonna use the car just to drift and you wanted somewhere in between 240 and the Z maybe the Z31? or an S13? if thats correct i'll look it up more before u listen to me heh.. or just buy a 240 w/ SR20det... that should be all the power u need

if supras, soarers, crestas, chasers, laurels, cefiros, and 4 door skylines can drift, than sure as hell a z32 can do it.

I have an 89 240sx and a 90 300zx. I have had both of them sideways and the 240 was alot easier to drift. The Z grips on to the road so well that it was alot harder to get it the rear end to slide.

I drifted in the 350z at my work. I work at a used car dealership and we had couple in. So I did it when my managers weren't there. Pretty damn fun
