wonder why everyone guts the rear of the car.. i think it would be better to have weight in the back , more balance, and should drift easier.

correct me if i'm wrong

Weight is bad.

S13's backseats are a joke.

it doesnt make that much of a differance either way. you arent going to notice the balance shift whatsoever. if people actually say that they can feel the diferance riding around with no carpet, they are lying to you. lies i tell you, lies...

the only way to really make a different is to strip EVERYTHING that isnt necessary out of the car. the only thing that i've kept was the carpet. i took out all the insulating rubber, panels. name it. its prolly gone.

but i dont recommend this if its a daily driven car. mine isnt. so thats why its stripped. the road noise is a great deal louder once these things are out also

i think it's better if you strip the backseat and then put two or three extra wheels in the back so you won't end up being stuck if you drift your car to the point were no tread are left. at least that's what i do.

i took my back seats out, but then i put in a 4 point cage....so i don't think i saved any weight on that one. Then i removed my spare tire, but then i put a dry cell battery in the back...so again, i don't think i gained much there.....but you would think i would lose front end weight with the battery in the rear....but i have an RB20DET up front so i gained a few pounds under the hood....

It's all relative.

I am a believer in weight reduction. But Like Marshun said you can’t half do it or you’re just wasting time. You have to strip everything to see a real difference. All that is left in my car are the front seats and dash. Noise is quite a bit more but I got used to it and it makes the car much more nimble in the turns.

I find there is more room for people in the back with the seats out.

hmm..if your goin to race in the streets,... i would rather beat someone with all my interior... ....but i rather race or drift with seats.....u dont save much weight anyways... i'll save more weight by me losing weight then taking the interior out.

My rear seat weighed 27lbs total. The bottom was 9lbs IIRC, and the back portion was 18lbs.

I think it looks better without the rear seats, (at least the S14) Im not sure how the S13 looks. It kinda gives it a bad a$$ look to it. And it attracts less attention to your car, most people would think, "wtf no seats what kind of a junk is this". (Thats people that do not know our cars of course, just some regular stereo thiefs. Thats just my opinion. Since I dont have a garage Im trying to keep my car as stock as possible on the outside and somewhat on the inside.

All i have out is the rear everything including panels. And the front still has the carpet, seats, door panels and dash. But thats it, and I painted the back black so it looks kinda cool. Even though the interior is dark blue, Im workin on that lol. The top part of the back seat is a bit heavy. But im not driving it yet so I have nothing to notice about the weight reduction. Besides i plan on puttin my battery in the back also , so im back to square 1.

i used to have a 95 impreza L with a 2.5 DOHC motor in it. i stripped everything that i could have and it ended up coming in at 2400lbs with half a tank of gas. the whole interior except the seats and dash were removed, and so was the sound tar. i also cut the bumper beams with a plasma cutter:D . this was also a daily driver, and needless to say i wont be doing the same with my 240... lol

on the 240 i just took out the bumper beams and all the crap in the trunk including the spare and jack. it comes in at 2600 lbs as it sits right now.

I know in the hatches, you have way more room without the back seat, just incase i need to haul lumber or something.

Yea I folded the backseat down to haul lumber to my house the other day. Works pretty well. Got to my house spent 30minutes putting together and carpeting the box. And my car was booming again. Added weight to it instead of stripping. Feel a difference with it in the back. Old box was right behind the seat with back folded down(only way for box to fit). Yea this car is goign to be for sound/show While my other is for drag. Onlything still in it right now is the dash and carpet.Dash will be out as soon as I get back home(surprisingly this 89 has a mint condition dash while my 93 has cracks like crazy). Dash has half the bolts gone and headliner is ready to come out but started raining when i last worked on it. Those annoying automatic seatbelts got quite a bit of weight to them. Didn't think they'd weigh that much. Going to get 2 racing seats for it when im done.

yes, it's the GREATEST setup! Why? cause you get a whopping 101ft-lbs of torque and no power until 5500rpm.

although, is a B16A lighter than a K engine?

Please please PLEASE tell me you still have door panels...and if you don't, you have something covering the door.

There was a comic thing I posted on two dozen threads in this forum but they got deleted. You'd apreciate the humor. As for weight, the S13 is considered a light-ish car, as far as I can tell, but it's how the weight is distributed rather than how much of it there is. It's little nose heavy, which lends to some understeer. An Integra is very nose heavy and has a lot of understeer.
