I want to post up video of my drift event on Sunday, but me and AD coversion don't mix well.

The video was taken on one of those antiquated 8mm? camcorders. Anybody have experience doing and AD conversion? Is it possible to convert it directly to a useable format, or do I need to do multiple conversions?

BTW, the my best runs were when my wife (camera woman) decided to ride-along with me. She also didn't want to use a new tape, so she taped over some awesome footage of a turboed s14

Try posting up in GC...I'm not sure on A to D conversion...but I assume it's simply a program. Google search??

if u have vista there should be a program called windows movie maker all you need is a firewire cable from your camera to the computer or a usb and it would dowload on there and you can make it into w.e format you want perferably mpeg and upload to photobucket and your set. idn if XP has that, there should be free programs you can get to switch that. hope that helps

Vista is the devil!!! lol. The camera is an OLD 8mm. There aren't any data connections because the data is sitting on a magnetic tape. You do remember VCRs right? lol

I may have my M-I-L put it onto a DVD (she has one of those DVD/VCR recorders and uses it frequently) and then swipe it from there.

I have the movie maker on my lap top.

Anyways you need an external driver with usb conection preferably. What it does it plays your tape thru usb.

I found something like that.

You know the camcorders are not that expensive anymore. You can buy and everio with 30g memory for under $400.00Put that on your list for next mod.Zozo

I know they aren't that expensive. My dad has one that I should have borrowed.

This past weekend was a super blur though:

Thursday and most of Friday- Writing manual for grounding wire kits.Friday night till 2 am- Designing and prints signs for company picnic eventsSaturday- Put up signs and took pictures of the picnicSaturday night- Mount front tires (thanks to MaximA32) then have dinner with my wife and mom and talk about my mom's love problems Sunday- Got up at 5am and drove 100+ miles to Willow Springs Raceway and melted tires As such, getting a different camera wasn't an option.

Here are a couple of the track layouts.

1st event- Doughnuts/Figure 8s or J-hook

2nd event- 3 runs, 2 at a time (staggered)

The parking lot (first picture on right) is where everyone had their cars and easy ups.

I loved the 2nd event because it gave you a lot of freedom. The 3rd event isn't worth talking about. I left early because of it.

There were about 12 240s with varying degrees of modding. Some were well modded with suspension, turbo, and rims, others were partially modded. 2 were bone stock (1 running on 3 cylinders).

There were 2 miatas there. My friend Chris' was held together mostly with zip ties. He ended up being towed home because his radiator fan gave out.

There was a red 3000GT VR-4 AWD that tried drifting but was having a hell of a time. Lots of weight transitioning and e-braking.

There was a turboed 300zx t-top. Very nice sounding.

There was an 04 auto G35 there. The owner was part of the staff and didn't want to take the G out, but when he saw me take mine out, he changed his mind. It seemed difficult for him to drift it though.

Overall it was a fun day. This was the first event that the group put on and they were a little disorganized with too much down time. They have inspired me to put on an ORGANIZED event in SoCal.

There are A/D converters out there, which start at $300. You can buy a DV camera and use it as a A/D converter in 2 ways. Hook it up through its inputs and transfer your footage to DV tape or use it as a A/D converter.

Looks awsome, I wish I had a track like this where I'm from, I just find old parking lots these days...

Any luck with the old tapes?

Sorry. Too tired/lazy to get the tapes out. I've got way too much on my plate. I'll see if I can get them swapped over tonight.
