Drift Tuning on the streets. My first 180 e-brake practice. Feeling good.

Nissan dominates the drift scene - Always has, always will.

Note: My max speed at all times was 30mph, so I was not breaking any laws, I practiced my e-brake in a dead end abandoned street to ensure it would properly work if ever needed elsewhere on the road. Where would a mechanic go to test his new parts he installed such as brakes, because that is exactly what I did.

So tonight I went to a few spots.

Spot 1, was an empty long industrial street, good for doing the e-brake 180 practices, also testing the suspension on the car. I swayed from side to side, testing the stock suspension taking note on the amount of roll because tomorrow I am putting in new shocks and lowering springs, then I will test the suspension again and hopefully the roll is gone, perhaps having more control in the turn.

So when I did my first e-brake 180 turn it was quite crazy, I thought the car was going to flip even though I know it could not happen, because the stock suspension make the whole car like tilt, and yeah that was crazy. It could not flip from pulling the e-brake right? I was only going 30. Anyone know the breaking point so if I have to pull the e-brake in an emergency on the freeway I would know it would not flip. Would it flip going over 60? Id rather ask then try, ha, if anyone knows.

So I stayed on that street for like 4 mins, then I left cuz I was paranoid. So went over to the next spot, which was a nice abandoned parking lot. Well it was lit up and there was 1 car in the corner with foggy windows, so I assumed they would not be driving around soon. So I started my donuts. I wanted to try a figure 8, but was scared a cop would drive into the spot and catch me in the middle of it. I am a chicken **** cuz 1 more ticket and Im done, but, I really want to be a better driver why won't a cop just understand that, I am not street racing, I am not showing off doing donuts in wallmart, I am learning how to control my car better in a safe environment, knowing how far my brake will take me before it comes to a stop, I haven't even started drifting but these are the steps necessary for one to become a better drifter.

I really want to just find a spot to be able to practice the e-brake stops for at least 30 minutes at a time without being paranoid.

Any thoughts on spots or being worried for cops? Any thoughts or tips on testing the parts on your car such as suspension, tires, brakes? Such as me noticing the amount of roll the car does on stock suspension, I never had a lowered car so I assume that the roll is significantly less.

Anyone know any spots in So Cal, if so hit me up, and I'll let you know one of mine.

But yeah, despite being paranoid from the roll of the car plus fear of cops, I had a lot of fun! From working on my car so hard and now being able to actually test the work I've done, even the simple stuff like replacing the worn rear brakes, just knowing they work properly feels great. Knowing all my fluids are well changed and tired properly torqued, and knowing I have a spot not far from my house to test out my new mods is the best in the world, all while not breaking speed limits nor laws.

Any tips how this might be achieved?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...lated

Get your a$$ to a locally sanctioned drift event and get a TON of trck time... I guarantee an accomplished driver will be happy to ride along and give you some tips.

Props for trying to keep it safe, but we'd love to see you "keep it on the track".

Good luck!!!
