I'm no expert. I will tell you what you are fixing to hear so get used to it lol.

start with your ka if it still runs. weld up the gears or get a lsd (limited slip diff). I welded mine up and it really is a pain in the *$$ in parking lots and you've got to be super gentle on wet roads, but very cost effective. If your ka doesn't run then yes a s13 sr is easiest, and if you do then leave it stock until you're so good that you run out of power before you spin out. The better you are at drifting a low hp car the better you will be in a high hp car. Kinda like sport bikes, people go out and buy a 1000 and die lol. My 600 does plenty enough for me

i agree with him. but however if you do do a swap. the bottom end can handle up to 450 hp. so before you do internals do other thing like i.e. a front mount, downpipe, exhaust and so on.

no such thing as a "drift engine" my dude. Its all up to your driving skill. If your into drifting then your building your car backwards. You should start with suspension and from there attend a couple of events. Also yes its easier to to slide your car around with more power but i think it would be a good idea to learn a couple techinques/styles of sliding you car instead of being the redneck that just smashes on the gas and slide his car around and thinks to himself as being the $hit.

ive been drifting illegally for 2yrslearned the hard way....now i have a s13 coupe with a blown kaso ...i really thank you guys for your helpi know i dont need a lot of hpi was more worried with torque

so fmic, turbo, bov, boost controlle,r maybe megan track coilovers, some enkei 17x8 and 17x7? 5lug upgrade, some bigger brakes cage and a harness?

oh and by drift engine i meant high revhigh torque

torque breaks the wheels loose not hpsomething bulletproof and cheap... i got twins comin in april so yes there is

an sr doesn't have torque but they are cheap.

I'd leave stock wheels on it bc tires will be cheaper and also if you're "Illegally drifting" or what not, I don't know where you live but around here there are curbs... I'd hate to warp an expensive wheel.

and I know it's hard to do but get it running and see how you like it before you start planning big upgrades like a bigger turbo, cuz you're gonna run into alot of expensive crap when you start trying to make more power. I would suggest go ahead and get a fmic and bov, and since you are either going to have to get some funky looking radiator hoses or a sr radiator (hoses are on wrong side from a ka) get a good one. They sell one on ebay alot of ppl on here reccomend.

What do you have for a rearend?? since you've already been drifting, just curious. I love a welded vs lsd arguement every once in a while lol

i like the sr. it breaks the end loose easy for me. and also i do agree about the tires. cause i have 18x10 on my rear but i swap over to stocks when i burn rubber cause it is way cheaper. i can get used tires on my stock ones for cheap.

Well op, for drifting i would say definently aim for a lot of torque, horsepower isn't really a concern

If you are going to build a performance motor strictly for drift, you dont need an extreme amount of power, to me 300-400 hp/tq would be definently more than enough to get the job done

imo, do work on the internals just because when drifting, you are running the engine pretty hard

well, that's just my opinion, im also curious on what goals one would need to achieve when trying to build a performance motor for drifting, etc.

so you been doing illegal drifting for 2 years now and you dont know what kind of motor, suspensions, wheel size, etc...?

i dont get it when you ask us this questions when you should already know it since you have been doing this for 2 years now rite?

you should already know all these before you start drifting because you dont just go find a empty place and start turning like tokyo drift lol!

noobs these day just too afraid to get flamed on lol!

g/w with everything

What is this "drifting" everyone with these cars seems to always talk about. I think they're confusing it with *Drafting* Which i believe is a technique used in nascar..........
