Definitely the VK, take a look at the intake manifold and compare.

Both are good motors but Are Vks aluminum? Ls1-2-so on are all aluminum. Which doesnt upset the balance of the car much (theres a thread on the weight of these motors and common swaps)

That and the Ls motor is one of the most reliable V8's ever produced with great power out of the box , and with some minor mods can make awesome power. Also the swap itself is becoming more and more common so conversion kits/parts are becoming mass produced for a variety of chassis. That is also a plus for the ls engines..

VKs are all aluminum and they have TWO, yes that's TWO cams per head! Something Chevrolet hasn't done since the LT5.

Edit: not that DOHC is a big deal.

Im not discrediting the Vk. I just dont know anything about those motors. I do know about the Ls motors (well mostly the ls1)

Just the quality of the engine as a whole (fuel mileage, power, reliability, aftermarket) is hard to beat with another v8 with equal power.

That and the motorsets are coming down in price also. So the wallet hurts less. You can get a swap if you look hard enough for around or just under 3 grand. The motors are fairly new compared to a lot of swaps that go into 'our cars' so the miles on the motor are generally on the lower end.

theyve been mod'ing a L series truck motor on "horsepower tv" and they are getting like 500 hp after a rebuild with cams and timing. s*** was cheap too, cuz its not an LS1.

and wtf are we looking for?
