a technique that is much better than WELDING is Shimming a VLSD... when the shims wear out it just goes back to regular vlsd. When the shims are in, it's locked and sooo nice for drifting. Anyone ever heard of it before?

vlsd are a waste of money. 240's come with a open diff. Just use a stick welder and weld the gears. The gears are heat treated and require allot of heat to properly weld into them. 240's are so light that its no big deal driving it around town and what not.THIS IS THE KA SECTION NOT THE DRIFTING SECTION> if it has do do with a ka and drifting talk away. This topic was getting out of hand thats why I chimed in about drifting.

Hey Driftingaroundyou you said 500 for the whole car right? lets see some pics of the engine bay and interior ant the entire outside of the car (it will help us make fun of you about your most unfortunate of accidents JK). depending on the shape I might be able to take some parts of your hand. I will see what I can do if you show me some pics.

Well, you're fucced if the weld breaks... obviously you have never heard of shimming... nah, VLSDs aren't wastes of $$... that's just what you buy if you DO have that kind of money to throw around... personally.. I would just rather have a shimmed 24/7 LOCKED diff... (shimmin it) that hardly costs anything and is much safer and more reliable than a weld. When I can afford one, 2 way is the way to go...sorry off topic

If it breaks it breaks the whole center section is welded solid. It will just lock up in the center again. I weld my diffs with a stick welder so It bonds well with the heat treated gears. But I have seen 10+ welded difs in 240's that have never broke. Most of them were mig welded too with less heat then I use. Go buy a cusco diff 1.5 lock or 2 if you have the money. Then who need gai shimms. just lock this four the way its going people will never talk about a ka again.

This thread was made because a guy wrecked his car and is now trying to sell it.

^ You need to reduce your signature. I think that there is a stickied thread over ho big it should be, and that is way to big.
