Dream Team Sucks

The Dream Team lost today to Puerto Rico. What the hell? I mean these are some of the top paid athletes in the world and they lose 92-73 . Thats hella weak if you ask me.

The rules are a little different too vs. the NBA. A lot of the calls against the US would have gone the other way here. How would you feel if you were a P.R. athlete, and you just beat a guy that has a 7-year $120 million contract?

I'd feel freakin awesome until I realized they are still gonna make that much money wether I beat them or not. Oh yeah the egos were overcoming there skill on the court.

After watching them play the last few days, I'm not surprised. The biggest stars on the same team don't amount to jack because it really does boil down to teamwork. You have to keep in mind that even as this "Dream Team" was being assembled it was like musical chairs with some of the biggest stars dropping out at the last minute. On top of that, lots of these guys haven't really recovered from the exhausting NBA schedule.

There was very little time for this team to gel into a cohesive unit and with a very different set of rules, I'm not shocked they were upset today.

The american U.S. olympic basketball team lost... not the dream team, the dream team was magic bird jordan and the rest of them on that 92 team. The 92 team had the best athletes at their respective positions i.e. 2-guard center. While the team we have is good they are far from the best at there positions. I think we will still get the gold though. *Side note* Dwayne Wade is a beast !! !! Go HEAT!

since this forums is already open i must state that Carlos Aroyo (cant spell his name) (the puerto rico point gaurd) is awesome. i am not going to lie i am a bit bias towards him bc i played against him when he was in the tenth grade. He was an exchange student to a small private school, and my school played his. when he was in tenth grade i knew he had a career in basketball. he just signed a 16million dollar 4 year contract with the JAZZ. hahaha. p.s. no i couldnt stop him in tenth grade. =)

I agree. The Pistons are a team, not a conglomerate of semi-stars. The NBA Championship team should be Team USA with the exceptions of the foreign players of course.

The problem with Team USA (notice my lack of using Dream Team) is that they have no real shooters, few good defenders and are not really a team, but just a collection of names.

A better name for this team might be "fraud squad". I'd actually like to see them win too , but so much has changed since the original dream team. Hopefully Larry Brown can get these players to put aside the egos and play like a team.

Yeah Carlos used to play for FIU I think. They will probably still win the gold. If they play smart and adapt to the zone defense they should be fine. Just send the ball down low and when the collapse on Duncan send it out to the 2-guard or small forward and just knock down the outside jumpers, sooner or later they will have to play one on one and once they do that its pretty much over.
