Drives well, but coming to stop sign or a stop cars losses compression or air and dies. Starts up fine. Skips a little while driving. Have to step on gas peddle to force it to stay running. Doesn't happen all the time but getting on my nerves.
Nothing changed or modified. Need some help before I lose money on it and I have to ditch my dream of making her more special.

Is it bucking? erratic RPMs at idle?
Could be that the mass air flow sensor (MAF) needs to be replaced.

Definitely check the MAF. How many miles on the car?

If the MAF has more than 100k miles on it, and you plan to keep the car for a few years, it's worth replacing. I got a nice performance improvement when I did mine at 90k miles. I have a '98

I saw a Craigslist post for a guy here in NH parting out a '98. If you don't want to pay for a new one, you could probably pick one up cheaply from him.

I got lucky, I actually broke the electrical prongs connecting to the circuit board in the MAF when I was trying to disconnect the harness... but I successfully re-soldered it, and re-sealed it. no code. But you can usually pick one up on ebay for about 40 bucks or less, because the 4th generation Maximas, I30s, and even earlier J30s used the same part... and most of them come with 30 day return.. I think it's worth a try.

Before you replace the MAF try and wiggle the connector at idle. If the idle changes a little then you know the connector is bad.

My dream is running at 150,000 and trying to stay beautiful. Plus as I have read, would changing the fuel and injectors be a good thing to gain the original power back?
For the 98 is there a way to get more power out of her Asian a** or not.
