Hi guys,

My battery went flat within a week of not starting the car. Apparently 1 of the cells dropped as the battery was about 5 years old. When the auto electrician tested the car he found that it was drawing 0.02. He said this is not enough to drain the battery. When they refer to measuring the drain do they measure this in amps or volts? Also i have been reading up on threads in regards to faulty stereo systems. Is it the actual Bose deck or amplifier that is faulty no one is specific and refers to the fault as the stereo.

The battery in my wife's 2003 lasted 60 months. Batteries today are pretty much dead on to their life expectancy. Time for a new battery.

I wouldn't even think about it...just replace the battery. Get a gel cell for better life expectancy.

I believe he is making a predictive amp reading which means this is purely one that is calculated based on what he may have measured in one of the cells chemically.

If there is a fault I would think it could be either unit. The actual unit most likely to cause the drain is the amp but it may be due to not recieving a command to turn off. Not sure without looking at the FSM but for most remote amps I have encountered there is a separate line that tells the remote unit to power up. If the amp doesn't have a separate power line that is powered off with the car then it is possible that it stays powered up.
