I was going to change the transmission fluid cause I know the guy before me didn't take car of the car very well and it's sometimes kinda "clunky/notchy" when shifting... So i get under the car and the dang plug will not budge for the life of me... Is there some tool/product out there I can use to get that thing out..?

Also while refilling the fluid aren't you suppose to do that from the shifter? I know a guy that works at toyota (that's a tech) and he said that that isn't the right place to do it... He said that there should be some "filler" holes/plugs on the side of the transmission for that and I'd have to pump the oil into the transmission that way.. He said it was a pain in the butt to do it that way but from what I've read from here you can fill it from the shifter.. Which way is the right way?

Maybe the way he does it on the toyota's doesn't apply to the nissans?

Also any of you guys have pictures of where I'm suppose to fill it? Cause I'm pretty sure when I pulled all the stuff away from the shifter I didn't see a place where I could fuill it (Unless I put a hole in the boot there)....

Thanks for your time .

I'm guessing from the name that it is a 89-93 240sx.

You can fill the transmission from the open shifter mount. That's not how a technician would do it, but it works.

You should be able to use a, I believe, half inch ratchet with no socket (just the rectangular part) to fit in the plug. If you still can't pop it, try using an extender to get some more leverage. That and you could try PB Blaster or similar product to break up the corrosion.

You can also get the fluid out if you remove the driveshaft, but if you're having trouble getting the plug off, you may not want to attempt something like that.

Yes the car is a 89 240 (Manuel of course)..

Yeah I tried to use the biggest (Longest) ratchet that I had (For leverage) and the dang thing would not budge.. I was thinking about just taking it somewhere just so they can losen it for me... I really don't wanna buy anymore tools but if I have to I have to.

There is no way I'm taking the drive shaft off... I'd rather have someone just change the fluid for me cause I'm not very knowledgable on cars I'm just used to the basic stuff (Fluid changes, spark plug changes , replacing air filter, stuff like that)...

Thanks for the advice and I'll see if I can borrow some tools from a friend or something if not then I'll just have buy some I guess.. I'll just look at it as an investment .

I'd just slip a pipe over the end of the rachet... you'd be surprised how much more torque you get when you add just a few inches

good luck

So simple yet so affective.. I'll try that out.. Thanks! I can't believe I didn't think of that.. I know I've done that before with other things.

if all else fails, use a propane torch to lightly heat up the bolt, the expantion of the metal will help to break it loose by freeing it up.

No way (I don't know how to use one).. Plus I don't even own one of those and I'd rather just pay a mechanic to take it off for me then spend money on something I don't know hoe to use .. Probably end up doing more harm then good (With me operating it).
