Well when I got the 1991 Q45 that I parted out I just undid the 2 bolts (12MM?) well one of the heads on the bolt broke off... The my friend who was letting me borrow his place (To keep the car there) drilled a hole through the tank and emptied the fuel out.

Now if you want to keep the tank I guess you can remove the tank and fuel pump sending unit and see what comes out through there. But if you have a spare tank take the first idea.

There are fuel lines under the rear of the car that are tied to the tank with some fuel hose. If you disconnect them it will siphon out. I found this out getting gas in my eyes when I replaced my fuel tubes.

You could also just take the fuel line loose in the engine compartment and jumper out the fuel pump relay so that you can use the fuel pump to pump the tank dry.

both of what heath suggested is what I would suggest, i would personally use the fuel pump though because taking apart those fuel lines makes me nervous about not being able to get it back together.

Nope if your going to replace the fuel pump or use the modified Fuel Pump Control Unit fro m 3Q Jay then just run the gas tank as low as possible. Then simply remove the gas tank, Thats what a "mechanic" did to my 1991 Q45.

When taking out the fuel tank leave the sending unit on there as that will prevent any fuel from spilling out. When your don there should be only a couple of gallons left of fuel plus 10-15 LBS of the tank.

That way you don't risk spilling any fuel.

I was kidding about before as I only got 2 hours of sleep. :frown:
