I came across the same issue doing my swap. You can't stick a hose down the filler either, it has something that blocks it. So, I pulled the fuel pump and siphoned it that way.

hahahaha im ashamed to admit it , but rather than open my fuel pump cover and siphon or drop the tank, i just unplugged the fuel line from the feed side of the fuel rail. and had a friend turn the key on to turn the pump on, i did this until it was spitting out foam.

I wanted to do that to save time. But I didn't want any old gas and crap in my fuel line.

Yeah that is a pretty good way. The only problem with that is you wont get all the fuel.. the fuel pump pick-up filter sits about 1/2 inch off the bottom of the tank. I would say atleast 1/3 a gallon still remains but after throwing 2 or 3 gallons of high test to mix with it will be just fine.

If you wanted to get all the fuel out of the tank..go to your local pet store and buy the cheapest fish tank water pump to get the rest of the gas out.

I bought my coupe that sat for 4+ years and it had half a tank of old fuel. **** was so nasty that it was a dark green and very very flammable and even burned the skin on contact
