hey guys, just thought I would post my videos from Friday night. They were taken using a stickypod camera mount. let me know what you think.

car wasn't hooking (even on drag radials) worth a crap because of the lack of track prep. they didn't put down any VHT.

best run was a 13.3 (against the 350z) and that was with only a 1.95 60 ft. the setup, atleast in the blue car, has cut 1.7s on drag radials. I know the car can go faster just not that night. everyone was plagued with traction issues.

you know you are shortshifting gears by a big amount.

i always got best times holding every gear up to redline. you should be doing high 12's at worst on the t25 and dr's. you have a diff?

I think he shortshift because it keeps the car on boost cuz the t25 cant keep up at high rpm's

Yes, i am intentionally short shifting 3rd gear. The power on the stock t25 falls off dramatically after about 6200 rpm. What times have you ran on the stock t25. I have ran multiple 13.0s in my car. I have over 50 passes in the car so I pretty much know my optimum shift points.

hold the gears. with stock turbo i was trapping almost 107mph... real crappy 2.2 60', and a 13.4, with open diff on the stock shifter.

holdem.

do you have a lsd? 12.9's should be possible with street tires and lsd. i understand track conditions aren't optimal at this point in the season because no one takes the time to prep the track yet.

60's are usually as follows:open diff + street tires = 2.2open diff + dr's = 2.0lsd + street tires = 2.0lsd + dr's = 1.8lsd + slicks = 1.6

if you are a good driver you can even beat those. 1.8's usually equal 12.6's.

If you dont' mind me asking. How are you doing the burn outs before each run? What is your technique? Cause I just bought BFG drag radials for my 240 but I am unsure of how to do the burn out......thanks for responding.

BTW: You will have better luck next time, good times regardless.

yea, im wondering that too...

also, the reason you hold the gears is to stay in the power band. yes, peak power is 6k but if you are shortshifting thrid, when you go into 4th you do not go into the power band. same thing goes with 1>2 and 2>3.

sorry,i didn't realize people were still responding to this thread. Ok, I fixed the link for the movie. Hosted it else where.

to address some items in this thread.. my shift points are this:

1st > 2nd : 7500rpm2nd > 3rd : 7100-7200rpm3rd > 4th : 6700-6800rpm.

MyNismo: Yes, I do have an LSD. Not being a jerk, but how many passes to do you have on the stock t25 turbo, while using LSD and drag radials? I have over 60 passes on my two s13s, both while using the stock turbo. During my experimentation through these 60 passes, I have determined that these are my optimum shiftpoints for the stock turbo. The reason you were trapping 107 was because of your crappy 60 ft time. You will learn that as your 60 ft time gets better your trap speeds go down some. higher trapspeeds but slower ETs is an indication of traction problems, specifically in the first 330 feet of the track. I have been to the track on both slicks and drag radials. As a matter of fact, I have never been on street tires because it is POINTLESS in my opinion.

If you want to learn how to launch your S13.....

then read my launch guide I wrote for the new Drag240sx.com website. This site is for drag racers only if you want to join.

Concerning the burnout, watch my video. while still in the water box, i tap the gas and on each successive tap raise the rpm till i get to about 5k. I then drop the clutch and step on the brake. Hold the brake firmly and you shouldn't have any problem doing a burnout. Look in your rear view mirror until you see white smoke. Your wasting your time doing burnouts on street tires so don't bother.

let me know if you have other questions. I encourage you to read my article.

most of the time I run 225-50-15 drag radials. The few times I ran slicks they were 22x8x15s.
