At the race tracks the new drag season is about to start and i want to enter but first i need some advice. How low of a 1/8 mile track time do you think i can get with a stock 180sx ca18det with $2000 for mods and what mods should i use to get the best time. in the street class im entering the average time is in the tens.

What do you think is the top three best nissan cars for drag racing in the turbo street class?

+1

you will NOT have a 10 second s13 with a CA18DET and 2 grand. not happening, no way, no how.

are you sure its a 1/4 mile and not a 1/8 mile ?

anyway, as for the mods, go for a intercooler, enclosed air filter, larger bosch fuel pump, rising rate fuel regualtor and a decent set of semi slick street legal tyres.

lol, CA18 + 2k in mods... Dude you'll burn half of that on some decent tires. Yea, if you are doing 1/8th I can see it.

If you're not producing 400+whp, it'd be real hard for to get a CA18DET into the 10 second club. You RWD guys have a better chance because of your configurations, but if you are not that hot at launching, it ain't happening; especially with $2,000 worth of mods ($2k is not that much anymore).

The Z sucks for drag racing. The anti-squat geometry of the rear suspension makes it damn near impossible to get a good launch. I think I would put the GTi-R in front of the Z just because of the AWD advantage. That is if we are comparing stock setup configurations.

probably going to need to add injectors, a bigger air flow meter, and a decent intercooler to that list too... and some sort of LSD or those slicks won't grip nearly as well.

i though the 240s in canada came with lsd's?

ya i forgot about injectors and an intercooler.

you could probably still make it into the 9s though.new listrx7 injectors from junk yardsr t25ghetto front mountmanual boost controller ( $10 off ebay)super afcslicks1g dsm bovturbo back exhaust (custom from muffler shop)

ok, just run 1 bar of boost, tune your afc, and your in the 9s.oh, 300xz/skyline /rx7 fuel pump

He's in the bahamas... If he has a true 180sx, he already has a VLSD, but if its a swapped 240, he may or may not. And that list seems doable on $2k

I've run a 9.8 1/8th on a 100% stock AWD talon. On the way to a 15.3 @ 88mph. Thats 195hp, 195tq, 3200lbs car with hard all seasons on it.

I've also ran a 10.44 1/8th in a 100% 280zx (140ish HP, 2800lbs, ancient tires, open R200) on the way to a 16.2 @ 84.6 MPH.

Get some Mickey Thompson Drag Radials or BFG Dr's for a set of rears and run spare tires (or OEM tires) in the front and you should be able to run a sub 10s 1/8th otherwise stock...
