this is probably going to be one of the strangest questions asked in this section in a while

Anyway, my buddy had a red S13 with SR20DET and some MR coilovers on stock steelies. He ended up putting some pretty fat mickey thompson drag radials out on the back of the car... but i cannot for the life of me remember what size they were...

Im thinking they might have been 275/50/15 and thats what he thinks it was too, he had no rubbing issue other than on a hard launch if the suspension was TOO soft, it hit the top of the fender

does this seem at all possible or was it a smaller tire?

If the stock steelie is 6.5" wide, I don't know that putting an almost 11" wide tire would work out very well. I personally would not put a 275 on anything less than a 9" wheel.I think you would be pushing it with a 245/50 on a 15" wheel. What kind of driving/performance are you looking for?

Let me re-phrase my last statement.Drag radials are for all out grip. Thats a given. They also rely on certain air pressures to maximize contact patch. We all in aggreance so far?Well if you are trying to run an 11" wide tire on a 6.5" wheel, you will not maximize the contact patch of such a wide tire no matter how low the air pressure is.As far as drag racing goes, you will need some slip in your set up. It is preferable to have that cushion at the cheapest/easiest to correct point: the tires. You got an extra transmission, clutch or any other driveline that will be absorbing the shock you will be generating?I stand by the 245/50 on a stock steelie. If you are going to be running 300lb/ft of torque or less. Especially if you will be driving this on the street at all.

And yes, I am learning impaired. There is so much to learn and never will there be enough time to apply it all.

buddy i promise you ive been drag racing longer than you.. i know you need "SLIP" my buddy steve who had his maroon hatch with STOCK SR on 14psi got a 1.6 60 foot out of the tire selection he had, leaving off a 2 step... i do not care if it breaks something, if you aint breaking parts, your not trying hard enough END OF STORY
