Went out with some friends to the ricekiller drag meet in Denton last night. It was my first time drag racing at a track. It was a pretty fun night. Track was an 1/8th mile but it was free so all was good. I made total of 5 passes for the night raced my friends cobalt ss twice and lost, mazda speed 3 and lost, scion tc and won, and nissan maxima and won. Wanted to line up a truck but could not manage that. My best run of the night was a 10.96 at 64 mph with a .265 reaction time. Most other runs were around the 11-11.3 second range. Id have to say thats better than I thought it would do, and pretty decent for a V6 powered 6in lifted suv on 33's/stock gearing and just an intake. Saw most nnbs 1500's running 10.3's with rims and rubber bands (mexicans) There was a dodge 1500 running mid 7's and a few diesels running mid 9's. Lots of mustangs, two new gen procharged camaros that were :buttsecks: Its a run what you brung kinda thing and I dont really care what others thought, I got a few compliments from people actually. My friends cobalt ss was having issues, combo of bald tires, bad track prep, and worn motor mounts which led to a broken shifter cable on the last run. He was skating down the whole track and as a result best run was an 8.96 at 86mph. Waiting for some good pics to be posted on Ricekiller!

Sweet man i remebered reading Car and Driver when the R50's came out and they were saying our vehicles are "underpowered". Most racing i ever done was at red lights and highways. I beat a 91 mazda 929 04 4runner and a Teggy.

Hmm, never knew that PF even the R50 was that quick.... Then again i do accelerate like a grandma...... Then again I guess if a lot of older economy car need 10 sec to get to 60 then i guess the R50 which supposed to do that in 8-9 sec would beat them.....
Was you using premium gas also? I tried premium gas for half tank.... The acceleration esp from start is smoother, the overall fuel economy is not improved however..... I did notice the difference in the ignition timing though... with premium fuel, at highway speed the timing advance i got was about 20 or so degrees. When i changed back to regular there was definitely a retardation of the ignition timing to 30 degrees at highway speed....

Nope, running regular gas haha...it was kinda a spur of the moment thing so I had all my tools, a 4 ton jack and stands, full size 33in spare on steel rim, and lots off other heavy s*** in the truck. Hope to take it all out next time try premium gas and maybe try a run with overdrive off. Goal is to run a 10.5...I think its accomplishable!
