So im doing a 240 for drag race instead of drif. Lol drifting is amzing but scarees the hell out of me. so anyways i have asked a question on another forum about a drag suspension and they gave me hell cause i guess according to them im stupid for a 240sx for drag. So i told them im having an rb20det dropped in. They are telling me those motors are crap for that and stuff. So i am wondering from anyone out there since i get good things from this forum and im still new with this 240sx stuff. Is the rb20det a good drag engine and are they just being a bunch of immature idiots and stuff. I was told the rb20det was good for drag as all of the rb engines i heard are good for. Inpute please.

as long as you can keep the revs up, the 20 will be good to drag...a new eclipse got the jump on me tonight because i didnt have the engine wound up and ready to launch... then boost hit, then wheel hop hit and I had to play the catchup game. But yeah, stiff coilovers will not give you the best times, and the rb20 is a competent engine as any. So don't listen to the haters.

i see plenty of 2.0L 4cyl cars not ment to drag race that do. civics, sr20's, evo's, wrx's, s2k, etc, etc. i fail to see why having a 2.0L 6cyl will stop you. if you wanted quicker (in 1/4) and cheaper though, you should've gotten a 5.0.

I see a lot of people with IRS cars that slam them so they are riding on the inner half of the tire. Whe I go to the drags I dial up the coilovers so I have positive camber. I set it so that at full squat on the launche the tire is perfectly straight to plant all the tread evenly. You would be suprised what essentially going from a 4" to 8" footprint will do for your traction. F the haters, there will always be someone who wants to piss on your ideas, don't let them bring you down.

ive found that once vtec engages and i hit the naaaawwzzzz button nothing can keep up with me.if you are intent on dragging then keep stock suspention, seems to be the best next to the hks hiper dragger coilovers (or what ever the fork they are called).rb20 can hold its own but it will need some love to be stupid fast.

Another reason why i am begining to hate drifting, sr bandwagon welded diff fag wanna be drifters, tell them that pulling doughnuts in a wet parking lot is not drifting, sorry for the rage but i hate people like that. And the rb20 is a good motor. most mods you will do are generic anyways Turbo, injectors, fuel management, but cams good manifold on the other hand...

i am going to put some money into this car to make it fast. it should be running mid to high 12's when im done. seems to me people that drag 240's dont mind the drifters but the drifters hate the draggers

maybe check out http://www.drag240sx.com.. i've never looked around there much but i'm sure they know a lot about suspension setups for drag w/o the hate from the drifters. horsepower is horsepower, so there really is no such thing as a "drag" motor as long as you can put it to the ground. i would focus on getting the horsepower first, then worry about suspension. once you have the horsepower, you'll prolly get struck w/ the "supra syndrome", aka 400-800 horsepower running 12s thats when you want to start fixing the suspension up.

you might want to look into a powerglide transmission too if you decide to get serious.

I say throw a set of coilovers on, im happy with my k sports, they will make your car feel alot faster, maybe someone felt the same way after they put decent suspension on.
