is there any downside to putting on a full bodykit in terms of driver safety. my bodyshop tells me that the brackets inside the stock bumpers will probably not work in the new kit's bumpers. does that increase the chances of getting hurt in a collision???

the only thing a body kit does is make your car look good. the body kits that are being produced now days are polyurethane. which will stop nothing from hurting you in the car. the only things that will save your butt in an accident are the driver restraint items straping your butt to the seat and that fast airbag that will save your face from having a nice imprint of a wheel on it. lol sounds to me like the mechanic is trying to weed out the tuner guys, as long as its properly installed with the brackets that the kit comes with, you shouldnt have any problem with the car. thats why they sell them to the public. couldnt sell them if they somehow came through the window and decapitated the driver and any unsuspecting passenger. lol so no worries bro =) good luck with the kit*sorry for the spelling

unless its a slight tap , then NO it wont help at all ... the stock has brackets and foam on the inside to absorb some impact... thats ABOUT IT... a normal crash will just absorb impact and minimize the chance of frame damage
