Generally speaking, brakes are a lot less expensive to overhaul than transmissions. Use each for the purpose for which it is designed.

you are at a lot more risk letting your brakes go bad than a transmission. If you have brake issues you need to take the car off the road and get it taken care of immediately.

A remanned transmission cost $3,000+, brake pads and rotors won't exceed $800.

Always abuse the system that costs the least to repair.

Some people i hear shift like if it was manual.I doubt it'd mess up your transmission that bad.It does help slow down though.

Transmission are warrantied by JATCO for 100,000 shifts, every shift you add unnecessarily shortens the life time.

Transmissions that do mostly interstate cruise operation seem to have double the life of those used in city traffic.

Life miles are all about how many shifts per mile! Each shift over life time costs roughly 3 cents* vs less than 2 cents per mile for brakes.

* based on a $3,000 transmission replacement and 100,000 mile remanned life
