down pipe mods?

just trying to get a feel for how many people had to modify their downpipe off the turbo to make their rb20 fit without conflict from the steering shaft? i made custom mounts for my engine and got it to fit in fine. the shaft is just barely touching the down pipe. should i take it off and modify it so it doesnt touch at all? if any body did it without modifying it, give a shout out and maybe a pic if you have one
