I have the 91 TT. 16" stock rims
my Z has everything stock with 83k miles, I'm happy with the Z all the time.
my Z started shaking a bit over 65mph after I hit a big pothole . the tire shop told me two rims on right side were damaged.
my friend has one set almost new rims with 205/50ZR-17 hankook tires.
I understand this will be down grade from the 225/16. and 245/16. just wondering if the new set rim/tire really will effect the performance of the Z. Mostly I just do normal driving, and drive the Z only two three times a week (try to keep miles low and keep the Z baby longer).. so, in my case, is it alright to put my friend's rims set on?

please give me some idea.

Thanks

Width wise you'll lose some handling and traction. What is the aspect ratio of your current tires? If your overall diameter changes, your gear ratio changes, and your speedometer will be off.

all are factory size tires on the Z now
225/50/16
245/45/16

the reason I want to go up to 17" is, very hard to find 16" rims around any more.
I went to some web site, they have 16x7.5 mostly. but the turbo rear set should be 16x8.5, so I can't get rear match anyway

as what I said, I don't drive Z that much. just worrying the shaking will damage the HICAS system.
If 17" will not make big difference, should I go bigger rim but narrower size tire setting?

In general you will be OK, just as mentioned will lose traction most noticeably with the twins and secondly some cornering performance if you are as most of us and drive the car as it's made to be driven.
I'd consider it a short term move and drive carefully, and replace them with correct widths at first chance.

talked to my friends about it yesterday.
one friend has a set 225/45/17. rims are 17x8, i think it's 40 offset.
I'm thinking to take this one, more closer to the factory spec
