Never really saw too much of a mileage difference with the dohc vs the sohc or at least never anything conclusive. search around for swap options.
Mileage varies on how you drive.
I am looking for a replacement 90' frame for my new running gear and many new parts. I wanted to know what the downside would be if I get a 91-93 frame. I drive between 3000 - 3800 RPM on the highway and get a true 30MPG, in the city 27MPG. I stated it in RPM because my speedometer is not registering more then 45MPH. The odometer and tack are still working. I purchased this 90 SE used in 91 for $7,000 it had a battery explosion and that may be why I have such a bad rust problem. This SOHC has 229k and still on the original chain. The oil is changed every 2,800 miles no leaks, none of the purple BS. I have reduction pulley system, K&N intake and hotshot header stainless steel Random flow cat and Borla Cat-back. During the years, I replaced the radiator water pump master and slave clutch cylinders. My last Centerforce clutch went 70k and I just had the transmission completely rebuilt. She sits on 17” wheels with Eibach 1” drop springs and Tokico struts and shocks. If I could find a way to fix my baby’s rust for under $2800, I would do it but every shop I take it to say, it is a real bad problem and will not guarantee the work. This car owes me nothing. I am 66 years old and want the car or its replacement to go another 17 years so this project may be the last car that I drive.
Seven years ago, I did a slight design / paint job change and everybody asks what kind of car is it or wants to but it.
Here are few pictures.
